This Stop-Motion Animated Short Features a Marshmallow Ghostbuster

Ghostbusters was a pretty groundbreaking movie, considering the fact that it was a comedy. Years later we still can’t get enough of it. I don’t hold out much hope that the new rebooted movie will be anywhere nearly as good as the original, but that’s okay, because we have cool movies like this stop-motion animation from Bodega Studios.

It features only a single Ghostbuster. Venkman. Uh, make that Venkmallow. Slimer also makes an appearance and you’ll never guess who is playing him. This short is awesome, but the problem is, now that I’ve seen it, I want more. When can I see more marshmallow adventures?

Rare 1984 Making-Of Dune Documentary

It’s the 30th anniversary of David Lynch’s Dune, so now is a good time to take a look at this rare documentary. Back in 1983 this short film was shown on the convention circuit to get people all hyped up for the movie’s release in 1984. It is titled Destination Dune and if you like the movie you’ll want to spare 6-minutes to check it out.

It shows some scenes being rehearsed, a look at the prop and model shop, David Lynch discussing designs with special effects coordinator Carlo Rambaldi and more. Even Frank Herbert himself. They really packed in a lot in this short documentary, which was included in the 2004 UK DVD release of Dune. It’s a rare treat for fans.

Adam Savage Builds The Space Rifle From Barbarella

Watch as Adam Savage builds the sexy and curvy space rifle from the 1960s Sci-Fi cult film Barbarella. He makes it by hand with only one image for reference. If you are in doubt that Adam is a true master in his field, just watch him work.

The end result is a sexy and sultry weapon that Jane Fonda would be proud to take into battle. It’s a long video obviously, but it is well worth watching.

Terminator 2 Set Photos and Concept Art

Do you love Terminator 2? Of course you do. Check out these behind the scenes photos from James Cameron’s classic 1991 film. The images come from Stan Winston’s special effects work shop. I really love that pic of the Schwarzenegger prop with the chest exposed. Look at all of that detail.

It’s easy to see why this movie is so amazing and holds up so well. And those Arnold busts are super creepy. One is surprised. The other looks mean.

2001: A Space Odyssey Trailer With Rare Test Footage

A rare trailer for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey has surfaced online. The trailer was released about a year before the film opened in 1968. That’s why it has a bunch of concept art and test footage. None of the finished scenes were ready at the time. As you can see that didn’t stop them from promoting the movie so they could get people excited about it.

Behind The Scenes Photos From The Making Of Dune

Critics can complain all they want about how David Lynch’s version of Dune is not a great adaptation, but you know what? I don’t care. The universe that the team created in this film completely captured my imagination when it came out and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

The visuals and atmosphere in this movie are truly magnificent. I can still watch it to this day and see things I didn’t notice the first time. It’s really fun to get a glimpse behind the scenes and to see them building this world.

ALIEN 3 Behind the Scenes Video: Bambi Burster Alien

If you enjoyed David Fincher’s Alien 3, you’ll enjoy seeing some more behind the scenes footage of what went in to creating the special effects for the movie. The video below focuses on a baby Alien called the Bambi Burster. It reminds me just how much I love practical effects and I’m glad they seem to be making a comeback with the new Star Wars movie.

The “Bambi Burster” was cut from the film, but this video shows a test of the unfinished puppet. In this case it looks like they were having a hard time getting the movement down. It is awesome that these guys got to play with all of the cool toys back then.
