Drunk Superheroes Star In Volkswagen Drunk Driving Ads

These images are from a series of sketches of a proposed campaign for Volkswagen called Drunk Superheroes by Heredia, Costa Rica based Fabio Obando and San Salvador, El Salvador based Miguel Membreño.

The final versions have the Volkswagen logo on the bottom with “Don’t let your ego drive you. If you drink, don’t drive.” It really drives the point home. No pun intended. Whether you are a superhero or a mere human, do not drink and drive.

Geeky ABC Wall Art For Kids

If you have a little geek in training and you would like to decorate his or her room with some cool geek decor, check out Etsy seller TofufuStudio for some neat ABC wall art.

There’s no better way to learn the alphabet. There are Jawas, Transformers, Daleks and more. Then once your little one is acquainted with all of these charcters you can start to introduce them to the Tv shows and movies that they hail from. Most are about $30 a piece, but well worth it. They are only young once, but you get to have these cool art pieces forever.

Star Wars Rebels Imperial Propaganda Posters

After Revenge of the Sith, the Empire is on the rise. But it can not conquer just an iron fist alone. It needs to win the hearts and minds of the Imperial citizens to recruit them to the cause. That’s why the Star Wars: Rebels team came up with propaganda posters for the Empire.

These posters were being handed out at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year and they certainly fit the tone of the show. Of course we love any Propaganda posters around here as long as they are beautiful and menacing. These are!

This Is What The Edge Of Tomorrow Aliens Could’ve Looked Like

Check out this Edge of Tomorrow concept art from production designer Oliver Scholl. His art department created these for the film. Here we get to see how different the aliens (mimics) might have looked. I like both versions and wouldn’t want to go up against any of them, time loop or no.

There are also some art pieces that show off the evolution of the exo-suit. The artwork here was created by Steve Burg, Tani Kunitake, Ed Natividad, Jeff Julian, Harald Belke and others. Live. Die. Repeat.

Game Of Thrones Inspired Makeup

Most of the makeup that you see on Game of Thrones is all about making people look attractive on camera. However, this series of Game of Thrones makeup designs are all about using makeup to display the various house sigils. The makeup was applied by makeup artist Allison Chase and the photos shot by photographer Matt Barnes.

Makeup sales are sure to go way up in Westeros after this and pretty soon every woman will be wearing her house sigil on her face. This is some beautiful work on some lovely ladies.

Star Wars Characters On Earth

Star Wars took place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but what if it took place in the here and now? Photographer Thomas Dagg shows us in these fun black and white photographs. These images have superimposed AT-ATs, the Millennium Falcon, TIE Fighters, and Star Wars characters in everyday settings. You’ll have to look closely at some of them to find the bit of Star Wars within. Like spotting Han Solo’s carbonite block by the trash.

Others are more obvious, like Jar Jar Binks laying in a dark alley. Someone finally got to him. These images are a fun look at what might have been if two worlds had collided. Hit the link above to see more at his website.

Classic Comic Book Covers, Recreated In LEGO

Recently in Los Angeles, Designer Con hosted a group of Lego builders who recreated classic comic book covers as 3D lego displays. These covers rock! Or should I say brick? I should, because the series is called Comic Bricks.

It is fascinating to see these comic book covers come to life in a new medium. It literally makes the scenes come to life and ups the action. It’s also fun to see which pieces the creators used to reproduce various effects. This might be my new favorite LEGO art form.

Bat Time: Adventure Time Cast Turned Into 3D Batman Characters

Behance artist Volatile Vertex created these amazing 3D Adventure Time characters dressed up like Batman characters. I hope he is still working on more, because I want to see what else this digital artist comes up with. These are all fantastic, but Gunter as the Penguin is just priceless. I love all of the little details, like BMO as Alfred presenting a joystick on a tray. Or how Bubblegum Bat Princess is standing on a piece of peppermint.

I would totally buy these if they were toys. It’s Bat Time!

Beautiful Doctor Who Dalek Salt & Pepper Shaker Design

These Doctor Who Dalek salt and pepper shakers are stunning. The design is amazing right down to the packaging which will give you a chuckle when you read, “Pre-filled with genuine Skaro salt” on the side of the box.

Sadly these are just a mock-up, but I would totally buy these shakers. They are a classy and modern way to exterminate your taste buds with some extra seasoning. This set of beautifully designed shakers was created by graphic designer and illustrator Pablo Gelabert. I love these! Now I’m sad I can’t buy them.

Fantastic Fur: Marvel Characters As Cats

October 29th was National Cat Day, but if you own cats then everyday is cat day and you already know how awesome they are. Cat day was founded in 2005 by Colleen Paige to raise awareness about animal adoption and to help raise money for groups like the ASPCA. It is a noble way to help our furry friends.

This year Marvel Comics is getting into the Cat Day action by sharing some kitty superhero art created by Jenny Parks. Your favorite Marvel heros have been cat-napped and replaced with felines.
