Stunning Paper Model Of The Millennium Falcon

Sometimes you look at a paper model and it’s easy to admire the fine craftsmanship, and sometimes an artist takes things to a whole new level and you are just blown away. This Millennium Falcon is made almost entirely out of paper. It’s 99% paper and 1% LED lights and fiber optics on the interior. Basically it is a masterpiece of paper engineering and design.

It took Polish artist Bernard Szukiel four years to complete it using photos as reference. His devotion is as inspiring as the finished product. No detail has been missed. It has the LEDs and fiber optics inside, even the scratches on the paint are accurate. Bernard you are a true master craftsman!

Star Wars User Interface Motion Graphics

If you enjoy a good user interface, you’ll like this video. Noel Rubin created the computer interfaces in Star Wars Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace and Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith. Here he shows off some of his UI creations. I really love the whole art of creating UI and how it can elevate and enhance movies. Sometimes they can almost make or break a movie.

Here you will see Anakin Skywalker’s podracer, the Trade Federation Battleship, Naboo Queenship, the R2-D2 Naboo Palace hologram and more. This is a really nice look at a lot of the UI designs seen in the Star Wars prequels.

In Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy, Brandon Alinger has compiled a history of every major costume from the first three Star Wars films. Think about that for a moment. Think about all of the charcters that were on screen in that trilogy. This was not an easy task.

Check out the trailer for the book here as well as some of the pages. This is going to be a fun read.

Star Wars In French

Have you ever wondered what Star wars characters are called in other countries? Well, cartoonist James Chapman clues us in with this cute cartoon. The Millennium Falcon is the Millénium Condor naturally. Chewie is Chico. That seems about right too. But Jabba the Woodsman? I don’t remember that side of the space slug. The Death Star is The Black Star.

It’s fun to look at different languages and compare words. The great thing about Star wars is that no matter what language you watch it in, the story is universal. May the France be with you! Sorry. Couldn’t resist.
