The Tricorder was crucial to the survival of U.S.S Enterprise crew members. There’s nothing as important to you when you are landing on an alien planet than a gadget that scans everything and tells you everything you need to know. Perhaps the bright folks at SpaceX could do with a little help on their Mission to Mars. Maybe if they had a tricorder, they would be building an outpost there by now.
