Roger Dean’s Strange Alien Landscapes

If you recognize Roger Dean’s amazing Sci-Fi landscapes, it is probably because you first saw them as album covers, for bands like Asia and Yes. I knew that would jog your memory. These exotic and vibrant illustrations are stories just waiting to be told. You see these landscapes and your imagination immediately takes over, populating them with aliens and making them live.

You might also think that Dean’s work looks a lot like the alien world from James Cameron’s Avatar. Well, Dean thought so too and in June of 2013 he filed a lawsuit in New York against James Cameron. He is seeking damages in excess of fifty million dollars. Whatever really happened there, Dean created his worlds first and he didn’t need 3D and millions of dollars to do it.

Star Warped Art Prints Depict A Twisted Galaxy Far, Far Away

If you are looking for some Star Wars art with serious attitude and lots of humor, get thee to the PickledCircus Etsy store right this second. Matthew Roby’s Star Warped series is all kinds of awesome.

Whether it is Leia as the lollipop sucking Alderaan Avenger, or Boba Fett with a “Strawberry Solo” frozen popsicle, or any of his other humorous pieces, these art prints will make you smile and laugh. How about Jabba the Hutt as the “Blobfather” or Admiral Ackbar falling for the somewhat obvious trap of a mini Death Star with dynamite attached? I love these and I hope he keeps making more.

Adventure Time And Space: Doctor Who And Adventure Time Collide

It is amazing how well some things just go together. Like Doctor Who and Adventure Time. Who would have thought? Cartoonist Alex Dempsey knew all along and now he shows us with these charming illustrations. This series is aptly titled Adventure Time and Space and shows us a world where the ninth through twelfth Doctors and their companions merge with Adventure Time. These two shows work perfectly together.

If we could watch this show, it might even be more fun than each of them are on their own. You have to love the fact that he even threw in the ninth Doctor’s banana. That’s just perfect. Also, the War Doctor. Yay!

Map Of Marvel Characters’ Hometowns

This is a fun map created by Movoto, which shows all of the hometowns of major Marvel superheroes and villains. It is a nice bit of marketing, but still, this is some useful information for geeks like us. It should settle a lot of arguments.

It’s nice to know where all of these characters come from. They might even come from your hometown. If so, hopefully you’ll run into them and get an autograph. Yeah, that is NOT likely, since they aren’t real, but it’s fun to dream huh? Spider-Man is real though. I totally believe in him.

Light-Up Sci-Fi Danger Awareness Art

These light-up Sci-Fi danger awareness artworks are clever and inventive and will make your home feel a little bit more futuristic. As if you are on board an actual spaceship, viewing safety warnings on the bulkhead. Etsy seller TheDailyRobot offers several. There’s a bionic arm warning, safety precautions regarding the Star Trek transporter and even one for an Orbital Elevator. The seller very appropriately has this to say about the transporter piece:

You can’t drive a car without getting a license. You can’t fly a plane without getting a license. But any jerk can walk into a tube and get de-atomized, which is why we need signs like these to keep the teleporting masses safe.

Cloud Atlas Concept Art Explores More Of Neo Seoul

It has been about two years since Cloud Atlas was released in theaters. Many came away from the film not sure what to think about it, some felt it was just uneven, while others thought it was a masterpiece. Well, whatever you thought of the film as a whole, you have to admit that it was ambitious.

Visually, the best part was probably the future world of Neo Seoul in 2144. These are the scenes that blew me away. Here you can see artist Adam Kuczek’s concept art for Neo Seoul, including weapons and vehicles. You can see why it looked so good on screen.

Domino X-Force Cosplay

Check out this beautiful Domino X-Force cosplay by Virginia-based artist It’s Raining Neon. Domino is looking beautiful and oh so deadly. It makes me want to see what she could do with the rest of the X-Force team. I choose her to make and also star in an X-Force movie. It’s a lot of work, but I trust her completely after seeing what she did with Domino, one of my favorite X-Force team members.

Lord Of The Rings Characters As Tarot Cards

DeviantArt user SceithAilm has illustrated a series of stunning tarot cards depicting different characters from the Lord of the Rings. Gandalf, Aragorn, Arwin, Sam, Pip, and Merry are all here, along with others, all on tarot cards that match their personalities.

I love the style. These are just gorgeous. These characters fit perfectly in a tarot card deck and they capture the spirit of the book perfectly. I think that the illustrator intends to continue adding more characters over time and I am looking forward to seeing all of them as they arrive.

Behind The Scenes Photo Gallery From Ridley Scott’s Alien

We can thank Imgur member Valaquen for these lovely behind-the-scenes photos from Ridley Scott’s classic sci-fi/horror film Alien. Valaquen recently uploaded over 253 images, with more to come. These images provide an interesting look at the making of the classic film.

We’ve got rare concept art, newspaper/magazine clippings, vehicle models, cast and crew pics, pics of H.R. Giger himself, costume designs and so much more. You can easily lose yourself for hours looking through all of them. Trust me, I’ve done it. These images make me appreciate the movie on a whole other level. I can only imagine what a thrill it was to work on this movie and help put it all together. To walk in these alien sets. Just amazing.

Superhero Serum Cologne Bottles

Fighting crime is tough work. You might as well smell your best while you are cleaning up the streets or battling mutant monsters from another dimension. This series of conceptual superhero ‘serum’ cologne bottles was created by Charlotte, North Carolina based digital design firm Animink. They look amazing.

These renders are stylish and timeless, much like the comic book heroes that they represent. I’m sure that the scents would also be timeless, if they actually existed. I’m not sure that I want to smell Hulk Rage though. I can only imagine how bad a raging Hulk must smell. I’ll pass on that one.
