Artist Jeffrey Christopher J’s GOLD series is simple, yet bold. It features Marvel and DC Superheroes in monochrome, with a touch of gold. Those gold accents show the fire inside of these heroes and really makes the images pop. These images are very simple, yet very powerful. Great Job Jeffrey!
The Rebirth of Superman by artist Danilo Rodrigues is an amazing and funny modern interpretation of the classic painting titled The incredulity of Saint Thomas. That is the painting that gave rise to the term doubting Thomas, just in case you were wondering. I love it. It’s equal parts geeky and funny, but still has that seriousness of classic works of art. Batman seems skeptical, which is totally Batman in that situation.
This is a very intriguing art series. One that I hope artist Vyacheslav Sivun expands upon. This series shows what a few of of favorite pop-culture characters would look like in a post apocalyptic world. Now that I’ve seen Harley Quinn, The Punisher, Boba Fett and Link, I want to see more. What would a Darth Vader look like in a Mad Max world? Or Mr. Spock. What about Groot? I really hope he adds some more characters so we can continue to populate this world.
I’m pretty blown away by what some people manage to create with cardboard, so when I saw Shreyas Malvankar’s Custom Cardboard Superheroes I was beyond impressed. How he gets so much detail using cardboard, I have no idea. That Gladiator Hulk has several accessories for instance. I hope he creates even more. Artist Andi Ewington has created some very stunning Alternate Star Trek Discovery Posters that beat the hell out of the stuff CBS All Access was releasing when the show arrived. These posters are bold while keeping things slightly retro. They really get you excited for the show if you haven’t seen it yet. I would want to watch it right now based on these posters.
Different superheroes have very different toilet needs, which had honestly never crossed my mind, until I saw this amazing and fun art from Kerry Callen. Urinals of the Justice League. Now that I’ve seen it, this all makes perfect sense. I’d hate to see Doomsday’s urinal.
Remember the old Spy VS Spy comics? Imagine them with Star Wars characters. This fun illustration from artist Kaio Augusto is just perfect. It depicts Han and Boba Fett Spy VS Spy style, about to duel. How much do you want to bet Boba turns and fires prematurely, trying to cheat? I love everything about this art. I hope Kaio does more in this style.
