Star Wars Trading Cards With Vintage Kenner Toys

Star Wars Trading Cards With Vintage Kenner Toys
If there are two things that summarize the best parts of my childhood, they would be the vintage Star Wars action figures from Kenner and the Star Wars trading cards. I collected as many as I could find of both. So imagine my surprise when I came across this. Matt Davenport’s homemade Star Wars figure trading cards are awesome. He recreates these vintage cards using vintage Kenner action figures.

They look so good you would swear they came out of the packages and have a bubble gum smell. Matt is a news anchor in Idaho and obviously he has been a Star Wars fan his whole life. The idea came to him when he was taking pictures of his toys. I would so love to collect these cards.

These Jedi Disney Princesses Are Fierce

These Jedi Disney Princesses Are Fierce
Artist Phill Berry is responsible for this series of Disney Princesses as Jedi from the Star Wars universe. All of these women look so badass and I love the style. Phill has a very unique take on this mashup theme which you have probably seen done before. When Phill does it, he injects a unique style and level of detail into his work that makes each of these pieces come alive. It would be awesome if Disney merged there two franchises into something like this.

Boba Fett Vs. Sarlacc

Boba Fett Vs. Sarlacc
Boba Fett may have fallen into the Sarlacc Pit in Return of The Jedi, but as we all know, that wasn’t the end of the bounty hunter. We know from the EU material that he survived, even if we didn’t get to see it on film. This artwork by DanLuVisi gives us a glimpse of his struggle. I mean, we all knew that Boba Fett wasn’t about to go down without a fight right? No way a Sarlacc is keeping him down. This art is all kinds of awesome.

Custom Mobile Suit Gundam Stormtrooper Figures

Custom Mobile Suit Gundam Stormtrooper Figures
As geeks we love a good mashup and this is a good one. Star Wars Stormtroopers and Darth Vader mashed up with Mobile Suit Gundam? Of course the results are going to be amazing. These custom-made Star Wars Gundam figures were created by Korean Gundam fan Kunho Noh. He basically took Stormtrooper models and modified them with Gundam armor. These are some hardcore Imperial lackeys. You can see some of his work below along with some video. These Stormtroopers look a lot more militaristic that’s for sure. I love all of the little weathering details on the armor.

Star Wars African Totem C-3PO

Star Wars African Totem C-3PO
Artist Evgeny Rusolovski created this awesome Star Wars African Totem version of C-3PO. This is certainly one of the most unique takes on the droid that I have seen in a while. I would love to see what the artist could do with other Star Wars characters as totems.

Totem or no totem, never tell me the odds. I bet this is what an Ewok created statue would look like by the time they have made temples and worshiped 3PO for many years.

Star Wars Magic: The Gathering Cards

Star Wars Magic The Gathering Cards
Fans of Magic: The Gathering are going to love this card set. WhinyTortoise created 285 Star Wars Magic: The Gathering cards and every single one is awesome. I love the artwork more than the art on actual Magic cards.

This deck has it’s own artwork and mechanics based on Star Wars. For instance, the Jedis have a “Meditation” ability, which lets players return cards to their hands. “Repair” allows your droids to cast their cards repeatedly even after leaving play. There are other mechanics aside from those too. If you are interested, there is a print sheet in pdf form. It appears to be fully playable although I doubt it has been play tested. This looks like a fun version of the game.

Star Wars: Reimagined Makes Star Wars New Again

Star Wars Reimagined Makes Star Wars New Again

Marcelo Laborda
Star wars is such a part of our lives and such a part of our culture, that it is hard to see it in a new light. Well, this art manages to make Star wars feel fresh again and that’s no easy feat. A group of artists over on CG+, over the past few months have been submitting some really nice entries in a competition called Star Wars: Reimagined.

Their mission was simply to “to re-imagine your favorite character, creature or vehicle from the Star Wars universe.” Below are just some of our favorites. You can hit up the link to check out more. There were some amazing entries in this competition.

Star Wars LEGO Teedo And Luggabeast Concept Set

Star Wars LEGO Teedo And Luggabeast Concept Set
The scene where Rey and BB-8 first met is recreated here with the Teedo scavenger and the Luggabeast. This amazing recreation was made by LEGO Ideas member hongtzer. It is their idea of a proposed playset and it is really expertly done. I can’t imagine LEGO would do a better job. It is perfect.

Which makes it a bit heartbreaking, because this concept has arrived a bit too late. LEGO already has a Teedo minifig and a luggabeast on the way as part of an upcoming set called Encounter on Jakku (75148). Oh well, we can still admire hongtzer’s work and give them credit where credit is due. Great build.

Star Wars Needle Felted Wampa Head

Star Wars Needle Felted Wampa Head
It’s not easy to hunt down a Wampa and get it’s head for a trophy. First you have to trudge through the snow and ice of the planet Hoth on your Tauntaun and hope you find one. Then you have to hope you get it before it gets you and drags you back to it’s cave for lunch. There is a much better way to get a Wampa head for your home.

Just buy this nicely detailed needle felted version. It measures 12″ X 12″ and would look perfect over the fireplace. Scary, but perfect.
