The X-Files Art Show: Conspiracies, Monsters, and Mythology

Fans of The X-Files who are in the Los Angeles area will want to check this out. iam8bit and Poster Posse are hosting a gallery exhibition called “Conspiracies, Monsters, and Mythology” that’s dedicated to the sci-fi TV series. The opening night celebration was last night and the exhibition will run until February 14th.

It features the work of more than 30 artists. This is some really nice X-Files art. A few of our favorites are below.

Star Wars: Reimagined Makes Star Wars New Again

Star wars is such a part of our lives and such a part of our culture, that it is hard to see it in a new light. Well, this art manages to make Star wars feel fresh again and that’s no easy feat. A group of artists over on CG+, over the past few months have been submitting some really nice entries in a competition called Star Wars: Reimagined.

Their mission was simply to “to re-imagine your favorite character, creature or vehicle from the Star Wars universe.” Below are just some of our favorites. You can hit up the link to check out more. There were some amazing entries in this competition.

Cool Star Trek TOS Infographic

This cool infographic was made by Cody Johnson and it is a tribute to the original series. It shows Gene Roddenberry along with the crew and has all kinds of facts about the original Star Trek.

Everything from how the Jeffries got their name to when the series first aired. Cool art with some fun facts. I love the retro design.

Alien Xenomorph Statue by Sideshow Collectibles

Sideshow Collectibles does it again with this awesome Alien Xenomorph Statue. It is the Alien Internecivus raptus Statue. That means ‘murderous thief,’ and it is one of the few official names recorded for the xenomorph species. This Xenomorph has an elegant pose as it is ascending from a surreal monochromatic chamber, with its limbs crossed and its barbed tail coiled. It is so detailed that it is horrifying.

It stands 22″ tall x 8.5″ wide x 8″ long. It will be large and in charge in your collection.

Star Trek Sulu 1:12 Collective Action Figure From Mezco

Mezco has announced their second Star Trek action figure in their One:12 range. It’s SULU! What, you were expecting Kirk next? This figure is expected around June or July, joining that fantastic Spock figure in this series.

Just like Spock, this highly detailed figure comes with an insignia display base, with twenty-eight points of articulation. He will have a fabric uniform, and a bunch of cool props, including Sulu’s awesome sword! How cool is that? If that isn’t enough, he will have several different hands and two heads. Mezco is really doing an awesome job with these figures. You can pre-order Sulu now.

Amazing Wooden Millennium Falcon

Martin Creaney is an artist who works in wood, but that is an understatement. What he does is create masterpieces like this handmade Millennium Falcon. It’s made from over 3, 000 pieces, each piece individually worked. Just look at all of that fantastic detail. If Han was a carpenter, this would be his ship. I don’t even know if that makes any sense, I’m just blown away by this magnificent ship.

Star Trek: Enterprise Stamps From Liberia

Why do all of the other countries get all of the cool things? Liberia recently got their first ever postage stamps focusing on Star Trek: Enterprise. They were issued at the end of December and as you can see they are pretty awesome. They focus on the aliens in Enterprise. There’s an Andorian, Silik of the Suliban, the Klingon Doctor Antaak, Doctor Phlox and two Vulcans, T’Pol and Suval. I would love to get my hands on these. I bet the people of Liberia are very happy with these.

Star Wars Ships As Monsters

If Star Wars was a horror franchise instead of Sci-Fi, these ships might look at home in a galaxy far, far away. As it is, these Star Wars ships as Monsters are very disconcerting and scary. But cool as hell. Artist Jake Parker created these cool ships that are alive in a whole new way. I love how the Death Star has a Sarlacc Pit in it. It’s always interesting to see familiar things in a whole new way. These remind me of these cool sci-fi ships and characters that look like fossils.

These ships are primitive and fierce and are not to be messed with. You can buy a signed print featuring these ships here.

Like these cool Star Wars themed lunches. It’s okay if they play with their food when it looks like this and they won’t have any trouble eating it after.

Robocop Poster By Anthony Petrie

This is a special treat for Robocop fans. Skuzzles’ first limited edition screen print movie poster of 2016 is from artist Anthony Petrie. The detail and design is insane. This poster just pops out at you. Throughout, there are an array of one liners and references from RoboCop. The whole man/machine theme is expertly done here. You can almost see his veins pumping beneath his armor. Anthony says:

Robocop is one of my all-time favorite movies, and he’s the subject in a lot of Hero pop culture references. That’s why I wanted to approach Robocop in a more unconventional way, visually depicting him in a more vulnerable state than we’re used to seeing. Thematically, this concept explores the duality of man and machine by drawing a graphic connection between Murphy’s organic —and inorganic— elements, with a darker and more dystopian palette.
