Now this is a reboot that I can get behind. Star Wars featuring the same cute cat in every role. We will call it Star Paws and the universe will rejoice. Artist Derlaine illustrates Waffles the Cat as several Star Wars characters in this fun and furry illustration. Being a kid means that you can be any superhero you want. All you have to do is use your imagination. Then you can become anything you want. You may look the same to everyone else, but in your imagination, and in your heart you are a superhero. That is the power of childhood and this series from artist Jason Ratliff illustrates this perfectly. Children with their favorite superhero as a shadow. Superhero shadows. These images are a part of his series Super Shadows and Super Shadows 2. You can buy prints here.
Most heroes are all about health and exercise and clean living, but it turns out that even superheroes can succumb to excesses and the aging process. When they do it isn’t pretty. Italian cartoonist Donald Soffritti imagines heroes who lived a life of excess and are now older. This art is just awesome, even if their aging is not.
Wubba lubba dub dub. Rick and Morty vs Xenomorphs by Matt Akin. The aliens don’t stand a chance. Neither does Jerry. Obviously. I would love to see this in a Rick and Morty episode.
Kevin Tiernan is a big Guardians of the Galaxy fan. I know, join the club. Well, Kevin decided to design a set of records for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 just for fun. I love what he came up with. Each record in this box set is based on a different character with a matching record label. I would buy these in a heartbeat if the soundtrack was released in this form.
Artist and illustrator Ed Harrington shows us how AT-ATs themselves get transported. I always knew it was something like this. An AT-ATT: All Terrain Armored Transport Transport. Works out great, except when it is going to the vet. Then they won’t cooperate at all.
Peter Korbaš is responsible for these charming Simpsons illustrations that mashes up the town of Springfield with Star Wars. This Star Wars mashup features Bart, Lisa and Maggie wielding lightsabers. I just hope that he adds more characters because I would love to see them fighting Mr.Burns.
Our heroes are always portrayed as being in their prime, with great physiques and amazing strength, but what happens when they binge too much on junk food. That’s what Kevin Sagoo’s art series titled Junk Food Superheroes explores and the results are not pretty. I wouldn’t trust these guys to rescue my cat. I sure feel sorry for the cities that they protect.
New Delhi, India based artist Anuj Goyal created this fun and cute Baby Superhero Art, depicting the Hulk, Batman, Superman, Iron Man and Captain America as toddlers. It is done in a fun style that makes you want to see more. I hope he adds to this series soon.
Starbucks really should be using some of these designs by Ryan Spencer on their coffee cups. They’re missing out on a ton of geek dollars. They could have different characters represent special flavors. I know I would be buying my coffee there if they offered these cups.
