X-Men: Days Of Fashion Past

One of the things I don’t like about the recent X-Men movies are the costumes. I want more colorful costumes like the ones drawn on our favorite mutants in the comic books. Well, if you are also tired of seeing your favorite mutants dressed only in black jumpsuits, illustrator Kevin Wada, has upped their fashion. Drastically.

These images are from a series called X-Fashion, and they do look like they belong in a high fashion magazine. The heroes and the villains all get a fashion makeover. The designs even align with each character’s mutant powers. I guess the danger room is a lot more colorful now.

Bacta: This Wine Will Get You Tanked

Behance user Malgorzata Skowronska knows a good thing when she sees it. If Bacta (the mysterious and powerful healing agent used in the rejuvenation tanks in Star Wars) can heal you while submerged in a Bacta Tank, the stuff must be pretty good to drink. Right? So Bacta brand wine was created.

All I can say is, drinking it would certainly be a step up from having to soak in it for several hours.

Mirror Mirror Star Trek Cosplay

Ask anybody what their favorite original Star Trek episode is and 9 out of 10 people will answer, “Mirror, Mirror”. It is an amazing episode that turns everything on it’s head, taking Kirk and crew to a parallel universe. This cosplay based on the classic episode comes from Thunderfairy and we love it. Photography by Phenrriz Fotografia.

She stars as a crew member from that parallel universe and even gets to hang out with bearded Spock. Well done! This is some nice eye candy. Of course I’ve always been partial to that colorful bridge set.

Alien Motorcycle Concept Looks Fast, Scary

This Alien-inspired motorcycle is beautifully designed, although I doubt very much that any future movies would call for the use of such a cool Alien bike. It was created by industrial designer Tamás Jakus. It is a customized black-on-black Yamaha SR with design cues inspired by H.R. Giger’s aliens.

I love all of the detail, which isn’t overdone. Everything is just perfect. The fuel tank is shaped like a Xenomorphs head and has a Weyland Corporation logo. Too bad it doesn’t exist in real life. Ripley could make good use of this sweet ride.

Jessica Rabbit In Star Wars And TRON

Jessica Rabbit is lovely. Although she would say that she’s just drawn that way. She ads sexy to any situation. That’s probably why artist FitzOblong inserted Jessica Rabbit into Star Wars as Slave Leia and a Stormtrooper. The artist also put her in TRON.

That is the best looking Stormtrooper I’ve seen all day. I have no idea how you wiggled into those costumes.

Neill Blomkamp Was Working on an Alien Movie

Neill Blomkamp working on an Alien movie? I like that idea. Can you even imagine what such a movie would look like? Well, just check out these images. The other day he posted some concept art from an Alien project that he was working on.

Apparently he was not working on this for the studio officially, but just for kicks. Now I just want to see this movie come to life. It would have been a wild ride, that’s for sure. Excuse me while I stare at these images for a few hours and dream of what could have been.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark Concept Art

Joe Johnston was a concept artist and character designer for Lucasfilm. He is responsible for the design of Boba Fett and many other cool things that we love. Guess what else? The Ark of the Covenant too. Here is some concept art from him from Steven Spielberg’s 1981 classic The Raiders of the Lost Ark.

It is pretty stunning. The version we saw in the film was really something, but this one just seems more biblical and alien to me. Can you imagine it all in gold and shining in the desert sun?

The Evolution of the Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver

If you are a fan of the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver, you can get this print by David Wildish from Society 6. It shows the Doctor’s favorite gadget in the order they were used in the show.

I think the main thing to learn from this cool print is that over time the sonic has become more complicated in design and if you go by the show, it also does more these days and is certainly used more often. Good old Peter Davison used it maybe once before his got fried, because he didn’t want his Doctor to overuse it.
