Cool Doctor Who Pottery

Doctor Who Pottery
Check out all of this awesome Doctor Who themed pottery from BRobertsonPottery. Much like the Doctor himself, pottery and stoneware are from another age, yet timeless. These pieces will fit in perfectly with the rest of your home decor.

The seller offers mugs, shaving scuttles, trinket dishes and more. I love the look of these pieces. If you like ceramics, you are going to love using these in your home. The Doctor would approve. All 12 of them.

Star Wars Watercolor Playing Cards

Star Wars Watercolor Playing Cards
This deck of 54 poker sized playing cards from AshleyVillersArt features prints of all of her original Star Wars inspired artwork.

It is one beautiful deck of cards. The images are printed on 310gsm, casino quality, linen cardstock and each card contains a black core layer so other players can’t see what you are holding. Naturally Jar-Jar is the joker. This is one of the prettiest playing card sets I have ever seen.

Geeky Black Velvet Paintings

geeky black velvet paintings
Way back when, people used to make fun of velvet paintings. Rightly so. They were usually tacky things that featured Elvis or a wolf howling at the moon. That was before velvet paintings started getting geeky.

At Gallery1988 in Los Angeles these beautiful paintings done on black velvet were recently on display. The show was titled, “Cult of Personality: a Velvet Art Show from Bruce White”. The painter has taken many sci fi characters and painted them on velvet. Everything from Star wars to Star Trek, to Blade Runner and beyond. They all look amazing.

Classic Hollywood Stars in Superhero Movies

Classic Hollywood Stars in Superhero Movies
Today superhero films are everywhere. Most films being made are superhero films. That wasn’t always the case. So what if these superhero movies were made in the 1940s or ’50s? That what this series from artist Joe Phillips explores. Clark Gable as Iron Man? Cary Grant as Batman?

If you like the old time Hollywood take on these flicks, you can purchase these directly from Phillips on his Facebook page. I especially love the Marilyn Monroe piece.

Modern Day Superhero Hostess Comic Book Ads

Modern Day Superhero Hostess Comic Book Ads
If you grew up reading comics in the 1970s, you know that Marvel and DC comics created some fun comic book advertisements for Hostess. When you see one it probably brings back all kinds of memories.

To celebrate these retro ads, CBR’s The Line is Drawn had artists create a collection of modern day Hostess comic book ads. Below are some of our favorites. They are every bit as awesome as the originals. They need more stuff like this in modern comics.
