We have in our minds certain iconic images of our favorite heroes. And illustrator Greg Guillemin is challenging the way we look at our heroes by making them more human. His ongoing series, “The Secret Life of Heroes”, shows us what these heroes do when they aren’t busting bad guys and saving the world.
They are just like you and me. For instance, Spider-Man eats a hamburger, itches his crotch and plays video games. Captain America laments the fact that his clothing is made in China. And Superman takes Viagra. Check out his website for more cool stuff.
Batman is one of those rare heroes whose villains are just as recognizable as he is. Most of them anyway. You may know the first appearances of popular villains like The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and a few others. But I bet you don’t know the first appearances of some of his more obscure foes.
Like Catfoot Regan, Captain Calamity, Penny Plunderer, or Mr. Camera. You are forgiven. These guys aren’t very well known. This handy infographic from Halloweencostumes should help.
Artist Chris Thornley created these retro art prints based on Charlie Brown as Indiana Jones. You’ll notice that there is one print for each movie in the original trilogy. Nothing for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. And I’m okay with that.
Good grief these are cool! I’ve never been a big fan of the Peanuts gang, but mashups like this get my attention. I might read some Peanuts comic strips if they feature more of my heroes like Indiana Jones. It’s hard to imagine these characters looking so different from what we are used to, but when you actually see them in new colors it is quite stunning.
People like to mashup Disney Princesses with all kinds of other things, but Disney Princesses in the Star Wars universe may be among the weirdest ever. Belle as a wookiee? Jar Jar as Ariel? Aurora The Hutt? Cinderella the Protocol Droid? These images are just plain wrong. Still, they are sure to give you a laugh.

These superheroes and villains are simple and elegant at the same time. Also timeless. They were created by artist Jeffrey Veregge who used his Native American heritage to create some truly unique images of the heroes and villains we love.
Here we have Batman, Robin, Hulk, Wolverine and more. They have an energy and intensity that I really love. They are all amazing, but I am especially liking his version of The Flash. This is some awesome and unique art that blends two awesome worlds together.

Droids are a common sight in the galaxy far,far away and here on Earth, humanity is catching up. We may not have droids as sophisticated as the ones from Star Wars, but we are getting there. It won’t be long until we are all a bunch of Jawas just scavenging parts to survive.
Obviously we love quality toys around here and this Batman Nesting Doll Set is very well done. Very Tim Burton-like. This set includes Batman, Joker, Catwoman, Two-face and the Penguin.

I’ve never been a big fan of Darth Maul, but mix him up with Hellboy and I think he’s pretty awesome now. this imaginative cosplay mashup combines Hellboy with Darth Maul and though I’ve never given it much thought, they really do make a great combination.
Naturally this guy is called Sithboy. The cosplay was created by Luis Projects, while the photos were taken by James Rulison. This guy has his double-bladed lightsaber and his guns. He’s ready to rumble. Great job.
