Star Wars: The Force Awakens Concept Art

When you look at this concept art from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, one thing becomes clear: This could have been a much darker movie. That probably would have been a good thing. Too bad Disney always likes to play it safe. The concept art below comes from the book, The Art of The Force Awakens, released by LucasFilm. mIt offers an interesting look at what they had originally planned.

To me Rey and Finn look much more a part of the Star Wars universe in their outfits here. BB-8 also went through several changes. I kind of like that bulky look. It’s less cutesy and more utilitarian. Kylo Ren? He could have looked far more menacing. There are so many interesting things to see here and you know what that means. I have to get this book and drool over these images.

The Little Book Of Batman

The Little Book Of Batman takes a look at Batman from his humble origins as the World’s Greatest Detective, all the way through to the present day. It also looks at Batman’s sidekicks and enemies, like Robin and the Joker and others. It shines a light on the complicated personality and the dynamic relationships that defined Batman through the years.

Needless to say that fascinates me to no end. This is a 192 page book of the greatest Batman images and text. I would spend way too much time with a book like this. I think I will. Must have!

Marvel Coloring Books For Adults

You collect the comics, you’ve seen the movies, now color between the lines and bring these Marvel Universe characters to life with these awesome coloring books! Marvel has announced a new wave of Adult Coloring Books that feature some of Marvel’s most iconic characters and amazing artwork. These coloring books will be available later this year. You will basically be creating your own comics. It’s nice to see Marvel continuing this line of adult activity books.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Teeny Tins Lunchboxes

One thing that stinks about “growing up” is that we no longer all carry around lunch boxes like in the old days. Well, it may not be socially acceptable to pack a lunch in your favorite geeky lunch box, but hey, we can still collect them.

These six tiny tin miniature lunch boxes are screenprinted on both sides with the Enterprise’s crew and they measure 3.3″ W x 3″ H x 1.4″ D. Awesome. I’m gonna display these on my shelf. They may not be big enough to hold a lunch, but they are a great reminder of the lunch boxes we could have had, but didn’t.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: The Art of the Film

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: The Art of the Film book is available and it features all kinds of cool concept art and behind the scenes stories. It also has interviews with the cast and crew, including an afterword by director Zack Snyder.

This book has everything from the earliest concept sketches of the Batcave, all the way through the set-building process, to the final version seen on screen. You will get to know the costumes, weaponry, vehicles, allies and enemies of both heroes. These books are always a fun read and now is the perfect time to enjoy this one since the movie is about to release. I’m really looking forward to seeing all of that concept art.

Batman v Superman Henry Cavill Barbie

The other day we showed you the new Barbie “dolls” based on Batman v Superman. At the time Batman and Wonder Woman had been unveiled, but not Superman. Well, now we have some images of the Superman version. He’s looking pretty good for a Barbie doll. You can order him here. Looks like they ship on March 1st. I wonder if Mattel is going to be making more superhero dolls after these. I like what they are offering.

A Wonder Woman Barbie doll is expected, but Batman and Superman Barbie dolls? At least they don’t look like Ken. Mattel has announced their Batman and Wonder Woman “Dolls” based on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Both are available for pre-order on Amazon right now in fact. You can find Batman here and Wonder Woman here. They both stand 13 inches tall. No Superman yet however. I know the female fans will love that Wonder Woman version. She looks great.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Finn Pilot Jacket

At last you can own Finn’s jacket. Or is it Poe’s jacket? Doesn’t matter. It’s an awesome jacket whether you are a rogue Stormtrooper or a member of the resistance. This high quality leather jacket is going to look great on you, no matter if you are visiting an ice planet or a tropical planet.

It looks just like the one from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s great for everyday wear or for cosplay. Some of the reviews for this jacket on Amazon are awesome by the way. Funny stuff.

Doctor Who Coloring Book

Doctor Who now has his own coloring book, courtesy of Penguin publishing house. This coloring book is perfect for fans young and old. Anyone who is a kid at heart is going to love this book. The pages feature designs and images of many fan favorites. All of the coolest villains are here and it seems like it has a lot of surprises in store for fans.

The initial pages spell out “Doctor Who,” with one letter on each page with the coloring design inside the letter borders. It looks like they did an awesome job with this one. It makes me want to color in the lines again and I haven’t done that since I was a kid.

Heroes & Villains: The Science Fiction Caricature Art of Kevin Greene

We really love art that makes us look at familiar sci-fi icons in a whole new way. Kevin Greene does exactly that, taking famous sci-fi characters and giving them makeovers as caricatures as if painted by some European street artist. All of their features are exaggerated and accentuated. We love it.

You can enjoy all of these images and many more in his book called Heroes and Villains: The Sci-Fi Caricature Art of Kevin Greene. These images are fun and colorful and not at all how we normally see these characters.
