Vintage Chinese Bootleg Star Wars Comic

Nick Stember has translated a 142 page Chinese comic book adaptation of Star Wars that was originally published in Guangdong, China, in the 1980s. It’s crazy stuff. It’s best just to take a look for yourself. It seems to have been made without viewing Return of the Jedi, since there are elements of the other movies and none from Jedi.

Below are just some of the panels. You can hit up Nick’s website for the rest. This is a strange rabbit hole to fall into, but you can easily lose a lot of time looking through all of the images and translations.

Doctor Who Short Story Collection Has Lovely Minimalist Covers

You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, but when the covers are this good we just can’t help ourselves. Penguin Books is releasing an updated anthology for their Doctor Who short stories that are written by famous children’s authors. This new version is updated to include a story for Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor.

But just look at those new minimalist covers for each book. It really is like having every doctor inside of that TARDIS slipcase. Take my money!

You’ll get stories written by Neil Gaiman, Malorie Blackman and Eoin Colfer. The new story for the Twelfth Doctor is Lights Out by Holly Black. There will be a normal edition of the collection that has all 12 stories in one book, but this gift edition is the one that has the awesome covers.

I could get absorbed in this for hours. As with Star Wars, Ralph McQuarrie was instrumental in shaping Battlestar Galactica. Most know that he was involved with Star Wars, but many don’t realize the influence he had with Battlestar.

Beautiful Star Trek Pop-Ups Book

Prepare for your wallet to be assimilated. Resistance to this awesome Star Trek Pop-Up Book is futile. You must have it. I know that I have to have it anyway. Star Trek Pop-Ups features seven pop-up Star Trek scenes, which span the entire Trek timeline.

It features pop-ups of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, the tribble scene from The Trouble with Tribbles, a Klingon Bird of Prey, a Borg Cube, Deep Space 9, Captain Proton’s Bride of Chaotica, and the Enterprise NX-01. They were designed by Courtney Watson McCarthy. This is a fun book for Trek fans. I don’t think we have had even one Star Trek pop-up book until now.

This 64-page hardcover was written by Robb Pearlman and inside you will see Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest of gang in some unusual and fun adventures that will have you laughing out loud.

This book is a must for your Star Trek library for the art alone. Both you and your kids will enjoy this one.
