RoboCop: The Definitive History

Robocop came on the scene in 1987 and instantly became a pop culture legend. A police officer is gunned down and reborn as a cyborg police officer. Half man, half human. All cop. It had groundbreaking visual effects, amazing set pieces, and plenty of great satire. I’d buy that for a dollar!

The film even spawned two sequels, TV shows and even the reimagined version which was…not so hot. RoboCop: The Definitive History will give you the whole story of RoboCop. It is full of amazing facts and stunning images. This one will keep Robocop fans immersed for hours. Check out a video review below.

This is the kind of book that I could sit with for hours. Learn about the special effects, storylines, exclusive interviews and more.

Basically Battlestar Galactica Vault: The Complete History of the Series 1978-2012 is a complete visual history of the show’s evolution, from the original 1978 series all the way up to Caprica and Blood & Chrome. This is a must have for serious fans. Check out a video below to check it out.

Collector and Star Wars historian Mattias Rendahl has an awesome new book called Star wars A New Proof. It is a detailed look at Kenner’s vintage Star Wars packaging designs which includes proofs, Artwork and more. It looks like a treasure trove of behind the scenes info about the vintage toys we know and love.

Star Wars Costumes Trailer

A new book highlights some of the most gorgeous costume work from the original Star Wars trilogy. In Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy, Brandon Alinger has compiled a history of every major costume from the first three Star Wars films. Think about that for a moment. Think about all of the charcters that were on screen in that trilogy. This was not an easy task.

AT-AT Cross-Section Infographic

I really love stuff like this AT-AT cross-section infographic. I could read stuff like this for hours. I think it’s from one of the Star Wars cross-section books, but I’m not sure which one.

The AT-AT armored transports were first seen in The Empire Strikes Back and it really illustrated to viewers what a massive force the Empire was, that it could move machines of this scale and use them in combat. They may be giant and fully armored, but everything has a weakness, as Luke soon found out. This infographic tells you everything you ever wanted to know about the AT-AT transports.

The Art Of The Adventures Of Lando Calrissian

I’m a sucker for vintage Sci-Fi novel cover art. They just don’t paint them like these anymore. You might remember Brian Daley’s trilogy of Han Solo novels in 1979-80. Well, this trilogy came next in 1981, featuring Lando Calrissian. The titles are almost as awesome as the art by Williams Schmidt.

The books were Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon and Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of ThonBoka. The action all takes place long before the events of the original Star Wars films. I just love that artwork. Just the right amount of retro and it convinces you right away that Lando would have made a great leading man in his own movies. I see him as a space-faring James Bond.

I love that you can still buy these books today in a 3 for 1 deal on Amazon. But the new cover has no soul.

Haynes Manual Press-Out And Build USS Enterprise

A newly released Star Trek Haynes Manual offers something a little different. The Haynes USS Enterprise Press-Out and Build Manual, is part book, part model kit, all awesome! Inside you will find a cardboard kit that builds a fifty centimeter long model of the original USS Enterprise.

The book itself focuses on all the main starships Enterprise. That’s cool and all, but…You can build the Enterprise! I don’t know about you, but I’m buying this one. One can only hope that they release more ships. I’d like to see a Klingon Bird of Prey and a Miranda Class ship. Check out the videos below to see how the model is built.

Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo Book

Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo is an art book written and designed by artist Chris McDonnell that documents the creative process behind the television series Adventure Time. That process is completely fascinating to me. As fans know, it is so much more than a simple cartoon. It is so very layered with detailed and has a fairly epic scope.

The land of Ooo is simply amazing and wondrous. This hardcover book will take you deeper into the rabbit hole. It even features an introduction by Guillermo del Toro.
