I absolutely love Ralph McQuarrie’s concept art from Star Wars and thanks to redditor Join_You_In_The_Sun I am in heaven looking at 100 images of Ralph McQuarrie’s art from the original trilogy.
Below are some of my favorites. I just can’t get enough of his vision of the Star Wars universe. Almost every single painting is epic and they really visually steered Star Wars into what it became on screen. Love these!

It’s amazing what talented folks can do with LEGO. Imgur user SlimPickings450 created this sweet LEGO Babylon 5 Omega Class Destroyer exclusively from his AT-ST 10174 LEGO set. The Babylon 5 ships are among my favorite ever. It’s nice to see this one created in LEGO. It just needs a few Starfurys to go with it.
Using the parts for a Star Wars AT-ST and making this ship out of them is pretty amazing. Great work.
This comes from the folks over at Industrial Light and Magic. It’s a short peek inside the visual effects work done on 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The CGI is amazing.
This short video represents just a small amount of the nearly 900 visual effects shots ILM contributed to the film. It took a crew of over 300 people.
This infographic from beautyflash provides a look at the superheroes and villains with the toughest and most unique skin. It shows the strengths and weakness of their skin too.
Everyone you would expect to be here is here, like: Superman, The Thing, The Hulk, Doomsday and more. These folks have some seriously different skin than you and I have.
The two Doctors are together at last. Dr. Seuss and Doctor Who that is. Not the Colin Baker era serial. These fantastic illustrations of The Doctor as Dr. Seuss characters are from Melbourne, Australia-based artist DrFaustusAU. As a kid I loved both of these Doctors, so I only wish this had existed back then.
Oh! The times and the spaces these doctors have been!
It’s just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man cuddling up with some cats. That’s because Peter Parker makes them purr. You see? Spidey doesn’t have to be dark and brooding all of the time. He has a huge heart. He’s sensitive and cats love his spider senses. Besides how else are you going to relieve stress after a long day of crime fighting and photo taking?

Whenever I revisit series 1 of New-Who I am always struck by what an amazing job Russell T Davies did in order to make it an instant classic and insure that it sticks around. You may disagree, but I think that the Doctor’s relationship with Rose Tyler was a big part of the success. So I thought that this cosplay by Princess Nightmare was a fun tribute.
“I have the pre add Tardis in and post. On some I clearly like one version better than the other and on some I don’t know. I am not used to being a blonde, this has been interesting this year I have done a lot of blondes and it has gone better than I ever thought it would…I love this shoot, I love these photos. I have only been a Doctor Who fan for a few years but I really love Rose and this was a costume I was able to get the 100% right pieces for…the jacket, the shoes, they are all the right brand right style and we know how I feel about detail. Definitely the most comfortable ‘costume’ I have ever shot in…I don’t look like me…but I think I like that, I think sometimes it’s good to not look like me, sometimes change is good. So I know a lot of people have been waiting for this one…so here it is!”

We love all of the stuff we post, but occasionally we come across something that just really blows our minds. This Batman vector art falls squarely in that category. Orlando Arocena made these Batman posters for the Poster Posse and Blurppy’s 75th Anniversary Batman Tribute. They are total eye candy and you can’t help but to be in awe of his talent.

Here we are in 2015 so it is definitely a good time to take a look at the 2015 glimpsed in Back to the Future II. It could have been even weirder. Some vintage concept art from the production has surfaced and these pieces show many designs that didn’t make the cut.
Tim Flattery, a veteran concept artist who helped create this then-future world, talked with Newsweek about the experience.
They certainly came up with a lot of wacky ideas. Had they left all of this in it probably would have been overwhelming. But it is awesome to get to see this stuff.
