Cracked held a photoshop contest where readers were asked to come up with Yearbook photos for fictional characters. Below is a sampling of winners and the runners-up. It’s a fun assortment that includes Back To The Future, Star Trek, Ghostbusters, Predator and many more.
The Starfleet Academy Hall of Fame has to be my favorite. Marty McFly as Calvin Klein ranks pretty high too. Thanks to all of the talented photoshoppers who brought these to life.
Most of us have probably imagined what Batman would be like with different gear, a different costume and being from a different era. It’s easy to imagine the Caped Crusader in almost any time period. This collection of Batman fan art does just that.
Here Batman is seen in different eras that are both real and fictional. It just proves that Batman fits in in almost any time and place. And as much as I love all of these interpretations, I wouldn’t trade the Batman we have for any of them.
The RoboCop Movie Masterpiece 1:6 Scale Talking Figure with Docking Station is going to make Robocop fans extremely happy. This may even be the crown jewel of your collection. It includes a light-up mechanical chair docking station straight from the movie and also speaks 6 quotes from the 1987 classic RoboCop!
Other features include: 25 points of articulation, 4 interchangeable lower faces, and more! This die-cast metal figure measures just over 11 3/4-inches tall with black, light gray, and silver armor, and a working thigh holster. You also get 1 interchangeable battle damaged helmet, 1 interchangeable battle damaged chest armor piece, and 5 interchangeable palms, including 1 pair of palms with improved articulation and movable fingers, 1 pair of fists, and 1 fist with spike. The weapons include 1 regular pistol and 1 die-cast pistol. It stands on a hexagonal figure stand with a RoboCop nameplate and movie logo. If all of that is not enough, it comes with a remote control for sound effects.
RoboCop speaks the following phrases:
“Drop the gun, you are under arrest.”
“Thank you for your cooperation. Goodnight.”
“Dead or alive, you are coming with me.”
“Come quietly or there will be… trouble.”
“Serve the public trust. Protect the innocent. Uphold the law.”
For their March 2015 issues, DC Comics has announced variant covers that will honor iconic films. So expect some of your favorite superhero covers to look different in March. There are 22 covers in all, mimicking famous movie posters. You can check all of them out below.
These covers should help them to sell more issues for sure. Personally, I’d like to see them do this more often. I can already see that March is going to be an expensive month for me, because I intend to collect them all.
For all of it’s history, the TARDIS has de-materialized in the same way. It slowly fades in and out of existence in one place and appears somewhere else. This VFX video from John Smith shows it materializing in a new and exciting way.
In fact, I’m surprised that the showrunners haven’t tried this on the show yet. Then again, it is a bit showy to use every time the TARDIS goes somewhere. It is fun to see though. I could watch this all day long. The creator did an awesome job.
These fantastic images of “Water Drops” are from Dave Wood, who captures dew and dripping rain drops on plant stems that reflect pop culture icons. Superhero symbols are combined with nature and the result is beautiful.
There’s something very meditative about these images. Moments caught in time. With heroes caught in H2O. I love these shots.
Anovos has announced a new line of Star Trek: Enterprise uniform replicas. As usual, the quality looks outstanding whether you fancy yourself an Archer or a Tucker. This replica jumpsuit uniform should arrive next September and it is based on the screen-used jumpsuits, with no detail overlooked. It features details like several bespoke zips, the department pipping which is available in all three colors, and an Enterprise NX-01 mission patch. The color is the bluer shade seen in the last two seasons, not the lighter color from season one.
If your pre-order gets in first, you’ll get a reduced price, so depending on how fast you order, you’ll get prices ranging from the already sold-out first tier, at $375, up to the final price of $500. Sold separately, you can also get a set of Enterprise rank pips to complete the uniform. These uniforms look awesome.
This Back to the Future II DeLorean phone case is a must for serious Back To The Future fans and it will make answering your phone a joy. This awesome case comes from Bandai and nearly disguises your entire phone to make it look like a DeLorean toy.
It goes beyond just covering your phone though. The headlights and other electrical elements of the DeLorean light up, and it even has a spot that slides open for access to your camera. The headlights will also blink when you get a call. In short, best phone case ever! You can pre-order it from Japan for ¥5940 (about $50) and if you do it will ship this June. I know what my next purchase is.
Funko has a new line of retro Star Trek figures that they have added to their ReAction line of action figures. These are Star Trek figures as they would have appeared in the retro Kenner format back in the day. These 3 3/4-inch tall ReAction figures have 5 points of articulation and features the 1980s style card back design. You can choose from Spock, Sulu, McCoy and Uhura in this initial release.
If I have one complaint it is that Sulu doesn’t come with a sword, but I’ll live. I love these ReAction style figures. You can pre-order them right now at the links above.
When you have been fighting crime for over 75 years, your villain list is going to pile up. And it can be hard to keep all of their names straight after all of that time too. You practically need a Bat-computer to keep all of that info handy. Well, now we also have this poster created by Pop Chart Lab.
The Myriad Monikers Of Gotham’s Villains has every villain’s name in one place, so you will always know who’s who. This thing has a TON of info, so if you need to, check out the full sized version here. Look at all of those names. Batman surely deserves a Nobel peace prize.
