Disney Cruise Ship Gets A Star Wars Upgrade

disney star wars cruise 2

Disney Cruise Line has announced that they will be making some modifications to a ship, and those modifications include an epic “Star Wars” area. The ship is called Disney Dream and will let young Star Wars fans aboard the Millennium Falcon in a play zone inspired by the interiors of Han Solo’s ship. You can sit in the cockpit and pilot the Falcon through hyperspace to jump to light speed. Basically every kids dream. I wish they had stuff like this when I was a kid.

The Jedi Training Academy experience will also be coming to the ship. There are also lots of Star Wars games, activities and crafts as well as screenings of “Star Wars Rebels.”

Swedish Predator House

predator house

This house in Sweden looks normal on the outside, but it has a terrible alien secret within it’s walls. It is an amazing Predator themed home on the inside, with life sized Predators, Predator accents and even an amazing Predator themed home theater.

Now that is how you decorate a home. Um, assuming you have a very understanding wife anyway.

R2-ME2 Sideshow Collectibles Art Show

star wars r2d2 art show

R2-ME2 is an awesome Sideshow Collectibles art show where a bunch of talented artists reimagine our favorite droid, R2-D2. These custom R2-D2s were on display at the 2015 Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim, California.

They are all based on a Sideshow R2-D2 Deluxe 1/6 Scale Action Figure. These creations are both original and inspiring. You have never seen R2-D2 like this before. I hope we see more projects like this one in the future.

The Avengers As Mythological Chinese Immortals

Avengers As Mythological Chinese Immortals

Did you know that there are Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology? Chinese mythology is pretty interesting. No doubt about it, but I am really intrigued to learn more about the eight Avenger immortals painted by Chinese Illustrator Xia-a. I can only imagine the epic tales that could be told about this group.

I love a good mashup between modern geek mythology and classic mythological tales. Awesome!

Batman Villain Makeup Photoshoot

Batman Villain Makeup Photoshoot

Lilly Mähdrescher could teach the Joker a thing or two about makeup. This is Lily’s creative Batman inspired fashion makeup photo shoot. Lily did the modelling, makeup and styling. I think she totally captured the spirit of Gotham’s bad girls if they did a runway show in Arkham Asylum.

Even male characters like Mr. Freeze and The Penguin are portrayed here as female fashionistas. These looks will be all the rage among Gotham’s crazies this fall.

DIY Cardboard Millennium Falcon

cardboard star wars millenium falcon
This cardboard Millennium Falcon is a pretty impressive creation. If you have a few hundred cardboard boxes laying around, you might want to build one of your own. Although I doubt it will be as amazingly detailed as Imgur user Thomas Richner‘s creation.

It is a 5ft. long scale model made almost entirely of cardboard, except for a bit of balsa wood along the hull. If that isn’t enough, it even has retractable landing gear and a detachable radar dish. It took Thomas 140 hours of work and as far as I’m concerned it was totally worth it. This thing is amazing. He even took a few shots against a green screen and it actually looks like it belongs in the movies.

Star Trek All Good Things U.S.S. Enterprise-D Ship

uss enterprise star trek ship
All good things must come to an end and that includes Star Trek: The Next Generation. One of the coolest things about that farewell to the crew was the new Enterprise D with the third nacelle. Now you can own this Diamond Select exclusive, which features lights, sounds, and a removable saucer section. This is a superbly detailed replica toy of the ship.

This vessel features a unique third-nacelle design that gives it more firepower than the previous Enterprise. It has sound effects and phrases unique to the “All Good Things” episode. The Star Trek Enterprise-D Ship measures over 17-inches long and is the most detailed Enterprise toy yet!

70s TV SciFi Posters

70s tv sc fi posters

The 1970s was an awesome time for Sci-Fi. We had Star wars, Battlestar Galactica, Logan’s Run… I could go on all day. Jeff Quigley obviously loves himself some 1970s Sci-Fi, so he created these amazing retro 70s Sci-Fi posters.

There’s a Cylon Centurion, The Six Million Dollar Man as a Cyborg, Twiki from Buck Rogers represents an Android and even Knight Rider as a Vigilante. I love the retro style and colors. These could have easily been promotional posters for these shows back in the day.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens BB-8 Droid Demo

Everyone thought that the BB-8 droid seen in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was CGI, but as it turns out, it is not CGI at all. They proved it during Star Wars Celebration with this live demo. I don’t think anyone saw this coming.

The BB-8 effects are very practical. I still think it looks a bit too “pixar”, but I have to admit, this little droid is growing on me. The real question is, how on Earth did they pull it off? I guess we will find out soon.
