JURASSIC WARS: Star Wars Dinosaur Mash-Ups

JURASSIC WARS Star Wars Dinosaur Mash-Ups
The folks at halloweencostumes.com thought it would be a good idea to mashup two hit properties from 2015 and create something new. Yeah, the people of Jurassic park thought THAT was a good idea too. Nah, this is a much better idea. Star Wars inspired dinosaurs.

These clever and cute mashups are pretty cool. Now I’m wondering how long it will take Disney to make this an actual cartoon. They could sell tons of dino-figures. It’s a whole new world of merchandising.

Prometheus And Alien Edited Together

https://vimeo.com/129318944
I know that a lot of people think that Prometheus was a sub-par movie, whether it is a prequel to Alien or not. I found it to be a worthy prequel to the classic, but different strokes and all that. For those of you who didn’t like the movie, maybe you’ll like it better with both movies edited together.

Editor Job Willins edited both movies together to highlight the good things in Prometheus and give it some closer ties to Alien. The film uses a parallel narrative, set 30 years apart and is titled Derelict. It really does a great job of setting an even scarier atmosphere in black and white. I’m not sure how I feel about it, but it’s a brilliant idea and very creepy.

Robocop Mug

Let the future of law enforcement be the future drinking vessel for your favorite beverage. It’s Robocop. Err, Robocup. Your sip punk! This crime-fighting vessel looks just like your favorite cyborg cop.

I’d buy that for a dollar! Seriously, this will be one of the coolest mugs that you own. Get yours from Firebox or Amazon.

Superman Red Son Premium Format Figure

Superman Red Son Premium Format Figure
Prepare to be blown away. I can’t even tell you how much I love this DC Comics Superman – Red Son DC Comics Premium Format(TM) Figure. What if Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union instead of the US. What if he became their greatest weapon? That’s right. This is based on Elseworlds mini-series by Mark Millar.

Here the Comrade of Steel shows his true colors, dressed in a red and grey costume which reflects the militaristic Cold War era. The big blue boy scout is now red and stands 25” tall over his Soviet insignia. This figure will be followed up by his ally Wonder Woman and the vigilante Batmankoff. I can’t wait to see those.

Chevy2who creates all kinds of amazing scenes with action figures. Below are some example from his Star Wars Flickr stream. Whether it is recreating scenes from the movies, or creating humorous scenes, he uses figures and props to make it feel real. I also love his humorous images, some of which can be seen below.

Now go lose yourself for awhile in his photos. He really creates magic and makes you feel like a kid again playing with your toys.

Sci-Fi Pulp Covers

Sci-Fi Pulp Covers
Behance user Leolux IV has made some super cool and retro pulp magazine covers for familiar modern Sci-Fi shows and movies. I can easily imagine these as actual pulp covers had these shows and movies arrived decades earlier.

I love what he did with these. The Star Trek one with Carol Marcus is the best! I hope he makes more. I would collect the hell out of these if they were real.

Game Of Thrones Pinups

game of thrones pinup girls
Pinups are coming. And they are magnificent. These gorgeous illustrations by Moscow-based freelance artist Andrew Tarusov show the ladies of “Game of Thrones” as lovely pinups.

They don’t have any old bombers in Westeros, but I guess they could paint these on the sides of dragons. Pretty awesome.

Adventure Time Meets Mad Max

Adventure Time Meets Mad Max
Ryan May has put the characters from Adventure Time into the world of Mad Max: Fury Road. Finn is Max, Princess Bubblegum is Furiosa, and the Ice King is Immortan Joe. Marceline is the Doof warrior. Perfect!

These are two of my favorite things, together at last. You can buy prints of May’s mashups here and through Etsy.
