Star Trek Discovery premieres tonight on CBS All Access, but you can see the main title sequence right now. It’s different from any other Star Trek title sequence, I’ll give them that. Some are arguing that it feels bland and uninspired. I really can’t argue with that. It seems a bit disorienting to me, as if this title sequence is unsure of what the show is about. It seems to focus on the technology rather than the journey and reminds me of an Apple product pitch. They also tried really hard to mimic Enterprise’s main title vibe. What do you think?
PistolShrimps has created a pretty cool mashup video in “Independence Day: A Star Wars Story”. It combines Independence Day and Star Wars: A New Hope to create something more than the sum of its parts. Independence Wars? Watch in amazement as Captain Steven Hiller and David Levinson blow up the Death Star.
The folks from How It Should Have Ended have released a new animated video for Wonder Woman. It has some funny alternate versions of scenes and of course they have their opinion on how the movie should have ended. There are also some neat cameos. This is worth five minutes of your time since it is bound to give you a laugh or two.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if other musicians played the Doctor Who Theme? George C Music has some ideas. He has created several alternative versions of the Doctor Who theme to see what it would sound like if it were created by other musicians. John Carpenter’s version definitely sounds dark and troubled. There are also Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and swing jazz versions. I hope he keeps exploring these Doctor Who themes, because I find these to be very interesting and clever.

Man, Pickle Rick is insanely popular. It was an awesome episode, but now we just need some cool Pickle Rick toys. Well, Sneaky Zebra has created this cool 90’s action figure commercial for the Pickle Rick action figure we all deserve.
I really enjoyed Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, and like so many fans I always wondered what a movie version would be like. We’ve seen some elements worked into movies here and there, but never a completely faithful live-action version. Well, filmmaker Wyatt Weed has made his own film adaptation of the 1986 comic. Surprisingly, it is pretty entertaining and well done. He gets so much right here. He made the film with only $2500 over 24 days, over 17 months. It just goes to show you that a movie with heart beats a big budget film any day. Give this guy a meeting with Warner Bros.

To help introduce its 2017 Fall and Winter fashion campaign, Gucci has created a short film inspired by the retro sci-fi movies and TV. I’m no fan of fashion myself, but this is a pretty awesome video. This is a great way for them to get some attention for their new campaign. It is just plain fun.
You may not be aware, but a group of developers have created a simulation game that lets players pit limitless units of whatever you can think of against each other. Like Chickens and dinosaurs for instance. It’s called The Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator, and to show off what it can do, YouTuber SergiuHellDragoonHQ has released gameplay footage of 10,000 Jedi against 40,000 Spartans. The Jedi aren’t even using Force powers, just lightsabers. Even so, the carnage. Oh, the carnage!
