Can you even imagine what it would have been like if Star Trek: The Original Series had aired in cinematic widescreen? No. No, you can’t imagine the beauty and scope of such a thing. It’s too mindblowing for our brains to handle. It is absolutely gorgeous.
The first Star Trek series aired in the 4×3 aspect television ratio, like the rest of the shows of the era. Sadly, that doesn’t hold up well in our current age of widescreen and HD. So basically, we are missing out. However, one amazing fan, Nick Acosta, has used some HD screen caps to put together some widescreen shots. There is a sampling below. They are simply stunning.
