Mega Bloks are releasing a bunch of cool Star Trek toys this year. including figures made of bricks that are called Kubros. The first series of Kubros highlight TOS characters. Spock is first. In fact, he is now available to order directly from Mega Bloks’ online shop. So naturally we have some great images of the toy to show off now. It’s a cool idea for a figure.
Can you look at this new Mezco figure and not think of it as the best TOS era Spock action figure ever? No, you can’t. Because it quite simply is the best. If you can show me a better Spock from that era, I’d love to see it. This is the first in Mezco’s new One:12 Collective range of super-detailed actions figures. I can’t wait to see more of the crew.
He has a real fabric uniform. He also has two head sculpts: one with an arched eyebrow. He also comes with multiple hands, including live long and prosper and mind meld poses. The equipment is just as good as the rest of this set. The communicator, phaser and tricorder have articulated details as well. Not to mention the fact that this is a stunning likeness to Leonard Nimoy. Well done Mezco. You have my money. Spock will be available in June, but you can pre-order him right now.
We had news earlier this year that Mega Bloks had secured the license to produce Star Trek construction toys. They aren’t LEGO, but hey, all of the images you see here are awesome, so how can you complain? At NYCC they are showing off the Enterprise and two other sets that will be released in the fall of 2016.
The biggest set is the USS Enterprise, which will apparently be over three thousand pieces and have light up nacelles to boot! It comes with two figurines: Kirk and Spock in dress uniforms. This ship is a 1/350 scale set that will cost $250. If you want something more affordable but no less cool, the Klingon D7 class will be $30. This one also comes with a figure, a Klingon obviously with a banner of the Empire on a display base.
The coolest one as far as I’m concerned is the transporter room from the mirror universe, featuring mirror Kirk and Spock, and a mid-transport Scotty. This set lights up with glow-in-the-dark elements. Also the mirror universe designs can be flipped around to make it look like the prime universe transporter room.
These are some awesome sets, that’s for sure. The bottom image is a Command chair made using Mega Blocks that is on display at NYCC.

The Perth Mint has some new additions to their Star Trek coin collection with the release of their third captain and ship set, this time featuring Benjamin Sisko and DS9, with an extra coin featuring Spock. The Spock does not have a companion ship coin. It keeps the same overall style, but where the other captain coins have a representation of their ship, Spock is pictured with the Vulcan IDIC symbol.
The regular captain and ship series continues with Captain Sisko and Deep Space 9. These coins are always beautiful. It’s too bad that the US doesn’t have currency like this. I find them quite logical.
