Robocop came on the scene in 1987 and instantly became a pop culture legend. A police officer is gunned down and reborn as a cyborg police officer. Half man, half human. All cop. It had groundbreaking visual effects, amazing set pieces, and plenty of great satire. I’d buy that for a dollar!
The film even spawned two sequels, TV shows and even the reimagined version which was…not so hot. RoboCop: The Definitive History will give you the whole story of RoboCop. This fantastic photo shoot shows cosplayer Payton Schmall as a female RoboCop and it is stunning. I have to say, it’s the perfectly pouty lipstick that really sells it. Don’t get me wrong, the costume is right on too and awesome. She channels the very soul of Detroit’s last hope. Which is not easy to do with a helmet covering most of your face.

This is a fun series of fan art that features several sci-fi and horror movie characters re-imagined as manga characters. These iconic characters are all cute and adorable, but can still lay the smack down if they need to. These fine illustrations were done by Matsuda Yuusuke.
I would love to see a cartoon series based on these. Especially the Robocop one. Also featured are Terminator, Alien, Predator, Pinhead, and Hellboy. On a side note, I don’t think I have ever seen the Terminator portrayed with boobs before.
A few weeks ago Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles hosted Storytime, a show of Joey Spiotto’s humorous work. These are kids books that are worthy of any kid’s book collection. Popular movies and TV shows turned into kids books. You can buy prints here.
I especially love the Borg book and the Planet Of The Apes book. Well, I love them all. Can’t pick a favorite. These books would put kids to sleep and fill their heads with all sorts of wonderful adventures. Amazing dreams would follow.
