Do you love Firefly? How about trading cards? Well, I have some great news for you. Upper Deck is putting together a set of Firefly trading cards. Robert Jimenez is one of the artists that are involved in the project. Check out these stunning cards of Joss Whedon’s series as pulp novel covers. They are all kinds of shiny.

When Upper Deck was bringing on artists to draw up some Firefly cards, Jimenez used the opportunity to bring together two of his passions: Firefly and pulp art. I love these images. Upper Deck did too, so they asked for some propaganda-type posters for the cards. The results are pretty awesome. I would love to have them as art pieces. Jimenez will be offering some for sale in the future!

Behance user Leolux IV has made some super cool and retro pulp magazine covers for familiar modern Sci-Fi shows and movies. I can easily imagine these as actual pulp covers had these shows and movies arrived decades earlier.

I love what he did with these. The Star Trek one with Carol Marcus is the best! I hope he makes more. I would collect the hell out of these if they were real.

Beautiful 1960s Doctor Who Comic Book Art

Prepare yourself for some of the best and most beautiful Doctor Who art that you have seen in ages. This Dalek comic strip was published in the mid-1960s in Century 21 magazine. Beautiful isn’t it? Well you can see it all on Flickr. See you in a few hours!

You can find the complete The Dalek Chronicles comic on walt74’s Flickr page. Apparently they are scans from a recent magazine that collected the entire run. I just love it. This colorful artwork has flying saucers, futuristic cities, space scenes and more pulpy goodness. I wish more people did art in this style today.

The Great Sandworm Race: We Have Wormsign

Now here is an epic mash-up that you don’t see everyday. Artist and illustrator Stephen Andrade painted this awesome masterpiece showing the giant worms from Tremors, Beetlejuice and Dune all taking part in The Great Sandworm Race. My money is on the Dune worm. It will just eat the rest of them. It is a worm eat worm world my friends.

And if that isn’t amazing enough, there’s more. He also created a digital version that looks like a vintage pulp book cover, making me wish I could read that issue. All hail Shai-Hulud.
