Ickerman: Visually Striking Sci-Fi Proof of Concept Trailer

I love what I see of this cool proof of concept trailer called Ickerman. It looks like Blade Runner and part chase movie. Right from the get go we see this guy as a loner in a futuristic world. His clothes are from another time, he’s driving an old Ford, while all around him the futuristic vehicles are in pursuit of him. Here’s the synopsis:

Taking place in a futuristic megalopolis where new technologies and virtual reality are ruling society, ICKERMAN is an original story following a nostalgic teacher obsessed with 35 mm films and old cars. After a string of disturbing events, he falls into his imaginary world and starts acting like the characters he admires to deliver his best friend from the guru of this digital era.

The movie is to be directed by French filmmaking team Raphaël Hernandez and Savitri Joly-Gonfard. Ickerman is to be their first feature film. They are currently looking for funding, hoping to start shooting the full film in 2017. I know I would like to see what they can do after watching that trailer, which was shot in one night in Paris. The VFX were completed in just three months with one VFX artist working on it. The budget? Only 1,000 euro. I’m impressed. I hope they get the funding and make this movie.

The Leviathan Teaser Trailer

This proof of concept trailer is pretty mind blowing. The Leviathan is a sci-fi monster movie from Oscar-nominated director Ruairí Robinson. We hope this ends up being made, because it is awesome! He created this short trailer in order to convince others that he has a strong vision for this movie. Movies like this aren’t cheap after all.

It’s about humans who hunt giant flying whale creatures above the clouds with laser blasters and other weapons. All I can say is, give us 2 more hours of this please! Check it out below and let us know what you think.

By the early 22nd century mankind had colonized many worlds. Faster than light travel was made possible by harvesting exotic matter from the eggs of the largest species mankind has ever seen. Those that take part in the hunt are mostly involuntary labor.
