They are pretty pricey at several thousand dollars each, but totally worth it. They will make your house look like a religious geek cathedral. These unique characatures are from artist Alex Gallego. The vibrant colors and warped style will make you feel like you have been transported to another universe where things are more than slightly askew. Either that or they look like an LSD trip. We love what Alex is doing. Hopefully he will create more Scifi inspired art to go with these.
These amazing portraits from Young Rascal are really something. They depict the Star Trek crew in classic Navy uniforms as well as on old ships. As someone who really enjoys the Horatio Hornblower stories and Star Trek, they really hit the sweet spot for me. These digital paintings really capture the crew in an entirely different era. Their jobs are pretty much the same, minus aliens and new planets. Keep the ship safe while you adventure on the high seas.
When we think about the characters in Batman’s world, we don’t often use the word cute. I mean, Batman is tough and brooding, Two-Face is psychotic and half of his face is grotesque. The Joker is evil. Gotham City is not a cute place. Well, Mexico based artist René Córdova has repopulated Batman’s world and given it a cute makeover with these fantastic watercolor portraits.
Sure, the bad guys and gals are still bad, but how can you stay mad at cute characters like this? Everyone is so cute, I’m not even sure who to root for anymore.

Berlin, Germany based artist Sanja Zakovska created this fun series called The Lost Family Portraits. It depicts some of our favorite Sci-Fi icons in antique style portraits. The best one is the Alien/Predator family portrait with Predator dad, Alien mom and Facehugger child.
This is a clever and fun series that puts some familiar faces into our past and lets us view them as if in a scrapbook.
Watercolor art always has this otherworldly feel. It is even more otherworldly when superheroes are done in watercolor paint. These watercolor portraits are from French illustrator and designer Blule. They are intense and full of movement.
I would love to see more comic books using watercolor to tell stories. These portraits are just so satisfying to look at. It really is amazing the mood you can set with watercolor paints.
Roberto Peraza doesn’t choose between the dark side and the light side, instead choosing the art side. Here he takes familiar Star wars portraits and mixes basic polygon shapes with background landscape images. The results are pretty stunning.
I have never seen anything like this done with Star Wars portraits. Gotta say, I love it. Darth Vader is especially awesome. Hopefully the artist will add more since he says that this series is “To be continued…”
Paris, France based artist Vladan Filipovic has some quality low poly Star Wars portraits with quotes from the movies. These just jump off of the page, with an impressive amount of detail.
They all look amazing, but I think that Yoda and Boba Fett really stand out. Great work Vladan.
