Thomas Kinkade was known as the “Painter of Light”. He painted realistic, idyllic subjects, usually cottages in the countryside. Peaceful settings. At least until the empire invaded.
Jeff Bennett has created the “War of Kinkade” series, which has Star Wars invading Kinkade’s works of art. The end result pleases me. We need to see this kind of tranquil setting invaded by the empire in the movies.
Batman’s worst foes are all assembled here on this Gotham’s Worst Batman Villains Art Panel Set. It features tantalizing art of the Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze and the Riddler. I love the style that these are done in. We’ve featured the artist’s work before and it is always impressive. This set simply looks stunning and would be the crown jewel in any Batman fan’s home. This is some premium Batman art right here.
Remember Gotham Gears? It depicted Batman Characters as Robots. Now we have more awesome art from the same artist, ChasingArtwork! This series is called Auto Avengers and features some popular Avengers heroes and villains as awesome looking robots. You thought these characters were badass before? Now you don’t want to mess with any of them. The Hulk still is the biggest and baddest of course.
This art mixes Star Wars and Regency era art to create something really breathtaking and original. It was created by artist The Real McGee. I hope they create many more. Albert Nguyen has reimagined Star Wars, by merging it with history from our own galaxy. He uses historical paintings for inspiration and places Star Wars characters within them. You might recognize Emanuel Leutze’s Washington Crossing the Delaware, or the historic photo Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima photographed by Joe Rosenthal.
It is a fun series that lets us see these characters in a whole new light. Many of them are made to look like old personal photographs. Also included is Boba Fett in place of Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Etsy seller autogeography sells all manner of geeky art, but these punny Dalek prints and paintings stand out from the crowd. Exterminate isn’t the only word in the Dalek’s vocabulary. They also know many words that rhyme with exterminate. As shown in these prints:
Exfoliate(A Dalek in the bathtub), Caffeinate(A coffee drinking Dalek), Investigate(A Sherlock Dalek) and many more. These are a more playful take on the Doctor’s fiercest enemies. They are the perfect art for your wall. They aren’t super serious and they are just plain fun.
Way back when, people used to make fun of velvet paintings. Rightly so. They were usually tacky things that featured Elvis or a wolf howling at the moon. That was before velvet paintings started getting geeky.
At Gallery1988 in Los Angeles these beautiful paintings done on black velvet were recently on display. The show was titled, “Cult of Personality: a Velvet Art Show from Bruce White”. The painter has taken many sci fi characters and painted them on velvet. Everything from Star wars to Star Trek, to Blade Runner and beyond. They all look amazing.

I absolutely love Ralph McQuarrie’s concept art from Star Wars and thanks to redditor Join_You_In_The_Sun I am in heaven looking at 100 images of Ralph McQuarrie’s art from the original trilogy.
Below are some of my favorites. I just can’t get enough of his vision of the Star Wars universe. Almost every single painting is epic and they really visually steered Star Wars into what it became on screen. Love these!

Megan Lara’s series Ladies of Battlestar Galactica (For Quantum Mechanix) shows the women from the show in the style of various classic works of art. For instance Starbuck is drawn in the style of Polish Art Deco painter Tamara de Lempicka. Sharon “Athena” Agathon is in the Art Nouveau style of Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt.
They all look amazing and dare I say it? It paints them all in a new light. It is the perfect combination of geeky and classy.
