Star Wars Meets World War II

Star Wars Meets World War II
This series of World War II Star Wars photos shows what would happen if both worlds collided. Elements from the Star Wars universe are put into photos from World War II and the end results are pretty awesome.

If you love these as much as I do, you can buy the prints from Thirteenth Floor. Our soldiers had it bad enough in that war. Can you imagine if they had to fight the galactic Empire as well?

Ant-Man As A 1950s B-Movie

Check out what Ant-Man would look like as a 1950s B-Movie. Director Peyton Reed drew a lot of inspiration from these old movies. He watched all of the classic shrinking films from years past to prepare for Ant-Man. And now Vulture has put together this fun fake trailer that imagines Ant-Man as one of those classic movies. It’s a fun take on Ant-Man and I almost wish we could see something like this today.

It uses some footage from The Incredible Shrinking Man with footage from Ant-Man’s trailers. The Vincent Price narration makes it totally work.

Superheroes As Manatees

superheroes as manatees
Artist Joel Harris imagined what some of our favorite superheroes would look like if they were manatees. Spoiler alert: They are all pretty fat and look very much the same out of their costumes.

Check out Captain Amanatee, Supermanatee, Batmanatee, Spider-Manatee, Green Lantern Manatee and many more. Sure they are bound to be slow and they will always stop to get a fish treat, but you don’t want to mess with these chubby heroes. Check out more on Joel’s Deviantart page. Fun stuff.

Doctor Who: Shia LaBeouf As Every Version Of The Timelord

Doctor Who Shia LaBeouf As Every Version Of The Timelord
Check out these amazing and fun portraits from artist Brandon Bird. They feature actor (And “Just do it” motivational speaker) Shia LaBeouf as each of the thirteen versions of The Doctor from Doctor Who. Oddly enough, I think he might be the most convincing as the 12th Doctor.

You can get prints of these paintings from his site and also buy the original oil paintings. Trying not to say it. No, really. I can resist. No I can’t. JUST DO IT!

JURASSIC WARS: Star Wars Dinosaur Mash-Ups

JURASSIC WARS Star Wars Dinosaur Mash-Ups
The folks at halloweencostumes.com thought it would be a good idea to mashup two hit properties from 2015 and create something new. Yeah, the people of Jurassic park thought THAT was a good idea too. Nah, this is a much better idea. Star Wars inspired dinosaurs.

These clever and cute mashups are pretty cool. Now I’m wondering how long it will take Disney to make this an actual cartoon. They could sell tons of dino-figures. It’s a whole new world of merchandising.

Prometheus And Alien Edited Together

https://vimeo.com/129318944
I know that a lot of people think that Prometheus was a sub-par movie, whether it is a prequel to Alien or not. I found it to be a worthy prequel to the classic, but different strokes and all that. For those of you who didn’t like the movie, maybe you’ll like it better with both movies edited together.

Editor Job Willins edited both movies together to highlight the good things in Prometheus and give it some closer ties to Alien. The film uses a parallel narrative, set 30 years apart and is titled Derelict. It really does a great job of setting an even scarier atmosphere in black and white. I’m not sure how I feel about it, but it’s a brilliant idea and very creepy.

io9 commenter poorfishy made these cool TV and movie posters, inspired by rock album covers. I really like them and need them now to hang on my walls. Han Solo and Greedo in Grease. Sign me up. It’s like seeing vintage vinyl album covers from an alternate reality.

There’s The Beatles, Duran Duran, The Who, Olivia Newton John, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and more all mashed up with some of our favorite characters.

Star Wars Pixar Trading Cards

star wars pixar trading cards

The talented Phil Postma did these excellent Star Wars cards based on Topps’ series 1 trading cards from 1977, only from the perspective that Pixar did Star Wars. These cards are awesome. And this is exactly what Star wars would look like if Pixar had created the movie.

I would love to see his take on some of the other series of Star wars cards. The art is top notch.
