Star Trek TOS Phaser-Controlled Rock Mood Light
From Star Trek: The Original Series comes… a glowing rock. It made an appearance in the episode titled “The Enemy Within” where Sulu fired a phaser at a rock to keep warm. The rock operates in two modes: Survival mode and Atmosphere mode. On Survival mode, the structure glows red like the stones did in the show when the phaser heats them. In the atmosphere, it can have a variety of colors. It also comes with a replica of the Phaser so you can control the mode. For dramatic effect, whenever the mode is changed by setting off the phaser remote, the phaser makes firing sounds like those heard onscreen. It was the dawn of the third age of mankind – ten years after the Earth-Minbari War… I really miss Babylon 5. It was one of the best sci-fi shows in history. I probably should watch it again soon. She may not look like much, but she’s got strings where it counts. Just when you thought you’ve seen everything, we have a genuine Millennium Falcon Violin. Perfect for playing Han (violin) Solos. Actually, I lied. It doesn’t have strings, so you can’t actually play it. But boy is this a conversation piece. The artist did create it around a real violin though and the engines light up with blue LEDs. If you buy it, just don’t stop your concert at the first sign of Imperial trouble.

You can make a much safer version from an IKEA PS 2014 pendant lamp. Instructable user MariaK64 will show you how. You can follow tutorials here and here. You just take the lamp and paint it. It already expands with the pull of its string. It looks sooooo awesome and explody! Is that a word? It will be the coolest lamp in your house.
