Famous Oldies: Old Superheroes By Alex Solis

All of our superheroes are either young or in their prime, but we rarely ever see old superheroes. They are perpetually young and strong. Well, not in this amazing art series from Chicago-based artist and illustrator Alex Solis. Here we see familiar heroes as senior citizens. Still super, just… Super old.

The series is titled Famous Oldies and that is just what they are, shown here wrinkles and all, still doing their thing. I’m just glad to see that they have not given up after all of these years.

Fun Fan Art: Baby Terminator

Have you ever wondered what Terminators would look like as babies? I think we’ve all wondered that from time to time. Well, here ya go. This fun fan art comes from French artist Ronald Bousseau. I think it’s pretty adorable. I also imagine that another terminator is going back through time to stop him from becoming an adult.

It’s a fun piece of art and now it has me wondering what Ronald would do with other sci-fi characters as babies. I hope he explores the idea.

It’s really too bad that Starfleet doesn’t allow pocket watches in their dress code, because this Star Trek Starfleet Cutout Pocket Watch would go perfectly with their uniforms. This antique gold pocket watch has a die-cut Star Fleet symbol on the cover and the dial is the top dish of the NCC-1701 Enterprise.

This cool watch measures about 4-inches wide x 3-inches tall x 2 3/4-inches long. It would be the perfect accessory to take with you on an away mission to the past.

Batman, Superman And Wonder Woman Tattoo-Style Art

This tribute to “The Bat, The Amazon and God” comes from artist Nicolas Côme. It features Batman , Superman and Wonder Woman in a Tattoo art style. I’m not usually a big fan of this kind of tattoo art, but I have to say, I love these. All of the details just blow me away. They would really come to life with some color. I guess this is what our heroes would like like after they are long gone and in the grave. It is disturbing yet beautiful. I would love to see these on someone’s skin. I would also love to see the artist do more heroes.

I’m really enjoying Tim Shumate’s geeky art. In his Etsy shop you can find art that covers everything from Gremlins, to X-Men, superheroes and more. The Gizmo piece that says “Hang in there” cracked me up. Below are just a few of our favorites, but you can find much more at his shop.

A lot of them are done in a cool tattoo-like pin-up style. If only I had enough room for all of these in my home. This is some really awesome work. I especially like those X-Ladies.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Teeny Tins Lunchboxes

One thing that stinks about “growing up” is that we no longer all carry around lunch boxes like in the old days. Well, it may not be socially acceptable to pack a lunch in your favorite geeky lunch box, but hey, we can still collect them.

These six tiny tin miniature lunch boxes are screenprinted on both sides with the Enterprise’s crew and they measure 3.3″ W x 3″ H x 1.4″ D. Awesome. I’m gonna display these on my shelf. They may not be big enough to hold a lunch, but they are a great reminder of the lunch boxes we could have had, but didn’t.
