The reason that E.T. is such a classic is because it is a feel-good movie. It’s a movie about a boy and an alien becoming friends. It’s wholesome and therefore deserves a wholesome song. Well, Youtuber melodysheep is hear to deliver just such a song. Clips from E.T. have been remixed to create the ultimate happy E.T. song. This art series from Kate Dawe is appropriately titled “Pop Eggs”. It takes pop culture characters and throws an egg into the mix. It’s a little odd, but that’s what we like about it. It’s also playful and fun.
The word puns are in full effect in the titles too, like E.T. The Eggstraterrestrial, Jurassegg Park, The Termeggnator and more. Check out this rare look behind the scenes of E.T. with Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Melissa Mathison. It’s like entering a time machine and going all the way back to 1982. This rare interview clip was apparently captured from a long-forgotten foreign broadcast. They manage to pack a lot into this 3-minute clip.
If you ever wondered why they chose to make the story take place on Halloween, Mathison talks about this here. She also talks about the script a bit. It’s a charming little clip from a more civilized age. It is worth your 3 minute investment.

This E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial plush wants to phone home. To your home. I’ve seen a lot of crappy E.T. toys over the years, but this plush actually looks pretty awesome. I mean, if you open yourself up to him and turn on your heartlight.
He measures 27″ tall and would make a great gift for any E.T. fan.
We all know E.T. as Steven Spielberg’s lovable alien, but he wasn’t always so lovable. According to Uproxx, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial started as a horror movie. The alien seen here would have taken your Reese’s Pieces by force and it would have probably been very bloody.
The original plan was to make a horror sequel to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, where a group of aliens would harass some poor family. The working title was Night Skies and it would have been directed by Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Tobe Hooper. These aliens are a far cry from the lovable little guy we met in the 80s.
