Marvel Heroes And DC Heroes Suit Up For Danger

Superheroes have long protected their home cities, states, and the world. But in 2020 how can they protect us mere mortals against a deadly pandemic like coronavirus? By wearing medical masks of course, just like us. You do what you have to do to protect the ones you love from covid-19. These heroes are no stranger to masks, so the choice was an easy one. They just do what they do every day. Marvel Heroes and DC Heroes suit up for danger. Just like all of the doctors and nurses around the world, who are also heroes.

So if you see one of your favorite Marvel Heroes and DC Heroes flying by and looking a little strange, have no fear. And make sure that you mask up too, in order to protect them right back. This art honors everyone who fights for our health every day. Living in a world where we have to quarantine is not easy. The heroes are on the frontline fighting coronavirus.

Dave Bautista as Bane

Dave Bautista as Bane
I guarantee that you had no idea how much you wanted to see this until you witness it for yourselves. This cool art combines Dave Bautista (from Guardians of the Galaxy) and Bane, the Batman villain. One incredibly talented fan artist, William Gray, took it upon himself to let Dave Bautista follow in the footsteps of director James Gunn and join the world of DC. Gray took to Photoshop to create this superhero masterpiece, which is just one of his many magnificent creations on display on his Instagram page. I think it’s fair to say that the fans were completely correct on this one – Dave Bautista would make an epic Bane.

A DC Comics Themed Restaurant May Be Headed For The UK

A DC Comics Themed Restaurant May Be Headed For The UK
Breakfast With Batman? Noontime nuggets with Nightwing? Supper With Superman? According to Bleeding Cool, a new DC-themed restaurant is being planned for the UK where comics and food will collide. I have to say I like this idea a lot, but why doesn’t the US ever get cool things like this?

“The proposed design continues the use of the space as a high-end restaurant. The restaurant will be rooted within the DC Multiverse, taking visitors on a culinary adventure through the many fictional Universes famous for its superhero residents such as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The style and design of the DC Multiverse are heavily influenced by the Art Deco period with the style prominent within its publications and film and television work.

The restaurant will not be a ‘theme park’ with literal sets and costumes from the franchise, but it has the intention to invite guests to experience the DC Universe without breaking the fourth wall- the imaginary wall that separates the audience from the performance. Reflecting Oliver Bernard’s work, the design will be a contemporary interpretation of the Art Deco period. This approach will evoke a sense of atmosphere prevalent in DC and the Titanic Bar without resorting to pastiche, encapsulating the Art Deco ethos of endless possibilities- progression and forward movement of time.”

Retro Comic Book Review – V The Visitors 1984 DC Comics

Retro Comic Book Review - V The Visitors 1984 DC Comics
When DC Comics launched their V series in 1984, the first and only season of the TV series was still airing. This put the writers of the comic between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, they were free to use whatever was already covered in the 2 mini-series and the current series, which is a great sandbox to play in, but on the other, they were constrained by the TV series still being on the air. They did not know where the TV writers were going with the plot, but since the TV producers had certain plans in mind, DC had to get permission for just about everything.

You can’t radically change or kill off any characters, or take any chances when the producers have their own agenda.

Sadly for the V comic, this often means that the missions of the resistance and the villainy of the Visitors are a bit subdued. That doesn’t mean it isn’t fun, but it is often little more than short story arcs that are wrapped up quickly. Ham Tyler, Mike Donovan, Julie, Willie, Kyle, the Starchild, they’re all here. And this 18 issue series is a fun read.

But for the reasons described above, it is far from perfect. I would say about half of the issues really capture the feel of the original two mini-series, while the other half is just kind of blah. Being that I am a hardcore V fan, I loved it all despite these flaws.

The art is at times great, at times not so great. It’s not that the art is bad in itself, it’s mostly that the characters do not look like the ones we love.

Interestingly the comic gets canceled right after the TV series does, so it never got the chance to stand on its own and spread its wings. Which is sad, because I feel like the team here could have made a very special book. One that might have lasted at least 100 issues. It just wasn’t meant to be.

Gonna keep this review short, but the bottom line is that it’s a great comic series if you have a special place in your heart for V. It’s fascinating to read through and see how the writers and editor chose to handle the constraints that they faced and it was fun reading the letters pages to see what folks thought of it back when these issues were new.

New Trailer For DC’s Shazam!

New Trailer For DC’s Shazam!
Warner Bros. has outed the next new trailer for DC’s Shazam! and it brings lots of fun and action. There’s lots of new footage here. This movie really looks like it will be a lot of fun. Among the scenes that we get to see here are young Billy Baston testing out his new powers, buying beer, and Shazam! battling against Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. If it is even half as awesome as it looks this movie is going to do very well at the box office. I can’t wait.

Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro - 1966 Batmobile Tribute
