The Secret Life of Heroes

We have in our minds certain iconic images of our favorite heroes. And illustrator Greg Guillemin is challenging the way we look at our heroes by making them more human. His ongoing series, “The Secret Life of Heroes”, shows us what these heroes do when they aren’t busting bad guys and saving the world.

They are just like you and me. For instance, Spider-Man eats a hamburger, itches his crotch and plays video games. Captain America laments the fact that his clothing is made in China. And Superman takes Viagra. Check out his website for more cool stuff.

Marvel Superheroes Become Gundam Robots

This art series is just plain awesome. Artist Aburaya Tonbi has created a Marvel and Gundam mash up series that will have Gundam and Marvel fans wishing for an actual crossover. These Marvel heroes look amazing as Gundam robots.

I love all of the little design details. Even if we can’t get an official mashup, I would even be happy with some action figures based on this art. I love it. Captain America and Thor look especially great.

The Avengers As Dark Fantasy Characters

I love these illustrations by Artist Daniel Kamarudin. He took the characters from the Marvel movies and gave them a dark edge with a fantasy theme.

These works of art make me want a Marvel fantasy video game where I can see the “Avengers of the round table” in action. Or maybe a Marvel D and D game. This is some excellent work.

Female Captain America Cosplay

Inwë Elensar Cosplay and Ydren Soph Cosplay look great as Captain America and the Winter Soldier! This cosplay is down and dirty. The fake cuts and blood are a nice touch.

You really feel the battle fatigue, but like a true hero this Captain America just keeps on fighting. Great job all around. If we ever get a female Captain America on screen, I would hope that it is someone like This cosplayer.

Behind the Magic: The Visual Effects of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This comes from the folks over at Industrial Light and Magic. It’s a short peek inside the visual effects work done on 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The CGI is amazing.

This short video represents just a small amount of the nearly 900 visual effects shots ILM contributed to the film. It took a crew of over 300 people.

These Avengers-Themed Cereals Are Mischievously Delicious!

Start your morning right with a well balanced breakfast. Okay, these sugary cereals are anything but well balanced, but they are mischievously delicious. Just like with the cereals we grew up with, the artwork and the toys are the best part. I want the Infinity Gauntlet and Thor’s hammer.

Elizabethan Style Sci-Fi Characters

Do you prefer your heroes and Sci-Fi characters to have a classical flair? Do you like to watch period pieces that feature the likes of Batman and Darth Vader? If they existed, you would watch it. And so would I? These amazing photographs will give you a taste of what that would be like.

Photographer Sacha Goldberger has put all of our favorites into Elizabethan costumes. Boba Fett, Captain America, Catwoman and plenty of others are all in period dress and posed in the artistic styles of the Dutch Renaissance. Goldberger calls the series “Super Flemish.” We like this one a lot.

Marvel Teletubbies

Grab some Tubby custard and sit back and enjoy these Marvel Superheroes. In Teletubby form. Captain Winky, Hulksy, Lalarine, and Spiderpo are ready for action. These fun mash-ups come from John Paolo Santos, an artist in Malolos, the Philippines.

These four heroes may just be a new team of Teletubby Avengers. And even though their costumes are instantly recognizable, I bet you still can’t figure out what the heck they are saying. I picture them rubbing their tummies before battle and then dragging the bodies of their foes back to their Tubby-lair. I bet that’s how the custard is made.
