Batman takes on a drunk Superman and the fight goes pretty much how you would expect it to go. Not well for Batman. This is a short, but funny animation from Darren Wallace titled Batman vs Drunk Superman. I never thought I would live to see the day that Superman pissed on Batman. I’m a bit disappointed. You would expect the power of Superman’s pee stream to cut Batman in half.
Eric Pautz created these lovely Star Wars Abstractions styleframes for a short animation that was never finished. It was meant to be an abstract story set in the Star Wars universe. These frames are beautiful. I would have loved to see the animation. You can see more of them on his Behance page.
Star Wars are fun and all, but what if Luke and Vader peacefully resolved their differences? That’s the premise behind this very cool Star Wars fan film called Star Peacefully Resolved Conflicts from Márk Juhász. It’s only about 2 minutes long and is worth the time.
The 1938 radio broadcast of H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds sent listeners everywhere into a panic. This clip is from what would have likely been an amazing epic sci-fi film. Sadly,a film that never was.
Stop-motion animation master Harryhausen brought Wells’ vision to life. A slimy Martian with bulging eyes, a slobbering beaked mouth and “Gorgon groups of tentacles”. You can check it out in this 16 mm test reel. You can see right away that this would have been another Ray Harryhausen masterpiece. Sadly the project went in another direction. Oh, if only we could have seen Ray’s vision.

Sometimes simple lines can make a dramatic statement. Take these awesome logo animations by Montreal artists Simon Lagneau and Sylvain Rogé of Baboon Creation. They created some really eye-catching animations of popular superhero logos. These are just simple lines, but they are super effective at getting your attention when animated beautifully. French artist and motion designer Patrick Grandi created this cool video showcasing a pair of His and Hers lightsaber designs. These designs are pretty awesome. As much as I love Star Wars lightsabers, my only gripe would be how little the hilts deviate from the original designs. I think we can do better and this concept proves it.
They should look like the elegant weapons that they are from a more civilized age. Look at all of the amazing detail in these weapons. They are downright sexy as hell, with so many curves and grooves.I just love all of the detail here. Just beautiful.
Scott Park has illustrated the spaceships and vehicles from the original Star Wars trilogy to scale. Yes it is as awesome as it sounds. We get to see how a Ronto compares to a TIE-Fighter, to a Tauntaun and on and on. Scott did a great job on this animation. It really puts things into perspective. Some of the sizes may surprise you. For instance, I had forgotten how large those B-Wings were. They are about the size of an Imperial shuttle. Fun stuff.
Frank Herbert probably had no idea in 1965 when he wrote Dune, that his masterpiece would go on to live forever in so many mediums. One medium that we have never seen Dune conquer yet is an animated movie. Artist Matt Rhodes shows us what they might be like.
Rhodes is the lead concept artist for the videogame Dragon Age: Inquisition. I wonder if he knows some people who can make an animated Dune happen. I’d love to see it.

Remember that cool Adventure Time and Mad Max: Fury Road mash-up art from Ryan May? Well, it has evolved. Egor Zghun has turned it into a cool piece of animation and now we want to see it as a feature film. But that’s just us being greedy for more. It’s only about a minute long, but it totally rocks.
