These fan art pieces explore “What if…”. They depict alternate scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy that never happened. They were submissions for the ILM ART Department Challenge, hosted by Industrial Light & Magic and ArtStation. Each one tells a tale that was never seen on the big screen, but suggests a new storyline. It is fun to see what might have been. These pieces are good enough to be honest to God concept art for these non-existent scenes.

Never-Before-Seen Back to the Future Poster
We all know the iconic poster for Back To The Future that shows Marty and Doc with the Delorean, but there was another poster that you may not know about that was almost used instead. This unused poster concept recently came to light after a former employee at Lonsdale Advertising in England found it in their collection.

Now it is headed to auction. This is an awesome poster, but I’m glad they went with the other one. The retro 50s element of the first movie would have been the focus here. It works, but it is not nearly as dramatic.

Cool Alternative Art Poster For 2001: A Space Odyssey

2001 A Space Odyssey Poster
Check out this retro alternative art poster for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space odyssey. It comes from Philippines based artist Dianne Aguas and I just love the design. It looks like one of the computer consoles from the movie, with some of the computer screens and an image of the monolith.

It’s easy to believe that this could be seen displayed in theaters in the 1960s. Sadly, it appears that this poster is not available to purchase, which is a good thing because I don’t have enough room for all of the cool stuff that I want.

These designs were done by Artistabe and we get to take a look at Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl.

It’s hard to imagine these characters looking so different from what we are used to, but when you actually see them in new colors it is quite stunning.
