Star Wars Biggs Darklighter Documentary


If you know anything about Star wars at all, you know that Biggs Darklighter was Luke Skywalker’s best friend in the first Star Wars movie. Less serious fans may not know this however, because most of his scenes were cut from the final version of the film.

Whether you are familiar with the character or not, in this installment of Jamie Benning’s Filmumentaries, Garrick Hagon, who played Biggs, talks about his experience with Star Wars. It’s fascinating stuff. Get to know Biggs a little better.

Mark Hamill’s Original Screen Test For Star Wars


This video clip is history in the making. I’ll set the scene for you. Luke and Han are in the Millennium Falcon.(Use your imagination) Alderaan is gone. Destroyed by the Empire. And Mark Hamill just landed the gig of his life. Because this is not really Han and Luke. Not yet.

This is Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford in their everyday clothes. But even then, during Mark Hamill’s screen test, it is mesmerizing and the performance is totally convincing. Yeah, this is the guy for the job.

Vintage Planet Of The Apes Door Posters

20th Century Fox created a ton of promotional material for the original 1968 Planet Of The Apes movie. These two-color “door panel” posters for theaters are just one example. They do a great job of introducing the various characters from the film by giving you some large print action so that you want to see it.

These posters were pretty common in the 60s, but by a decade or so later they were already on their way out. Which is too bad, because they really make an impact. I wish they still promoted films like this today.

Behind The Scenes Images From “V” The Original Mini-Series

“V” The Original Mini-Series and the mini-series that followed are among my favorite sci-fi shows of all time. Check out this image of series creator Kenneth Johnson in the ship graveyard at Universal. It was taken after the original filming at some point. These ships were simple, yet awesome. I really wish I had some as toys or replicas.

Other images in this set include the shuttle being moved by crane. Yep, these ships actually existed as full sized props. It’s amazing they didn’t break the thing moving it around. I just love these ships. They are so…lizard people!

Mad Max: Fury Road Behind The Scenes

The Mad Max movies are among my all time favorites. It’s going to be hard for George Miller to top himself, but from everything I’ve seen so far, it looks like he just might. This B-roll video showed up online and it features 18 glorious minutes of behind-the-scenes footage of George Miller directing some of the action scenes of Mad Max: Fury Road.

This movie looks amazing and as usual, that’s largely due to the mostly practical stunts they did in the Namibian desert. Practical is always best. It’s really amazing to see these stunts performed on the set. This is dangerous work and these stuntmen do an excellent job.

The Mad Max movies have always been as much about the vehicles as they are about Max. If you really study the films you will find a ton of vehicle types all with their own awesome modifications. Basically the vehicles are characters just like the actors. Mad Max: Fury Road is not disappointing us when it comes to apocalyptic vehicles.

They went all out on the vehicles in this latest installment. The new film features over 150 actual working vehicles. Oh yes. This is going to be a hell of a ride. Below are just some of the movie’s cars.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Live Motion Capture


Slashgear has a very interesting article about how Star Wars: The Force Awakens is being made. It’s pretty similar to how video games are made. The focus may be on practical effects this time around, but there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. It’s pretty impressive stuff.

There’s a lot there for fans of the Battlefront game as well, so make sure you read the whole thing. It is really eye-opening. If you don’t have the time, just check out this video below.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens BB-8 Droid Demo


Everyone thought that the BB-8 droid seen in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was CGI, but as it turns out, it is not CGI at all. They proved it during Star Wars Celebration with this live demo. I don’t think anyone saw this coming.

The BB-8 effects are very practical. I still think it looks a bit too “pixar”, but I have to admit, this little droid is growing on me. The real question is, how on Earth did they pull it off? I guess we will find out soon.

Batman v Superman Teaser Trailer – In Neon

By now almost everyone has seen the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Official Teaser Trailer. I don’t know about you, but I am good and ready for this movie. It looks pretty awesome. I just want MORE. Well, if you enjoyed the trailer, YouTuber Neonardo has put together a 30 second neon version of it, which is a lot of fun.

I could easily watch a full length version done in this style. Awesome stuff.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser #2


Lucasfilm and J.J. Abrams are taking us back to a galaxy far, far away. And man am I stoked! This is a stunning trailer and it was well worth the wait. I am so relived that JJ Abrams did not try to change it like he did with Star Trek. Everything seems prefect. Might we actually get the perfect Star Wars movie? It sure looks like it.
