Native Species Of Gotham City

Native Species Of Gotham City

This fun series is titled “Native Species of Gotham City” by Ellie Bacan. It was part of DC Comics, We Could be Heroes fundraiser campaign auction awhile back. I really love what Ellie did here. It would be awesome to have an entire series of these on my walls.

Robin is just adorable.

If you’re an Indiana Jones fan you might want to visit Orlando, Florida soon. Disney has announced a new Indy-themed restaurant coming to Walt Disney World. They’ve released two new pieces of concept art for the project. According to the press release, the restaurant will be called “Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar,” named after the snake-loving pilot from the beginning of Raiders.

It looks like it will be a fun restaurant judging by this concept art. The main room will have an expansive bar, with aviation decor, vintage travel posters and correspondence between Jock, Indy and others.

Flash Gordon Classic Animated Short By Disney’s Robb Pratt

Wow. This hand-drawn animated short resurrects the Flash Gordon serials from way back when. Flash…ah ah. He saved every one of us! Yeah, before that. This short was made by veteran Disney animator Robb Pratt who just loves to work on this stuff all the time, just because he loves it. It keeps him up at night.

It has period appropriate music and other nice touches that make it feel like the old serials have come to life again. Even a scantily clad damsel in distress. Dale Arden of course. Flash and Dr. Hans Zarkov are taken to the planet Mongo and forced to fight an alien creature in an arena. Enjoy.

Scenes From Star Wars Created From A Single Sheet Of Paper

Scenes From Star Wars Created From A Single Sheet Of Paper

It never ceases to amaze me what people can do with paper of all things. Check out these amazingly detailed, 3D Star Wars scenes. They are actually made from just a single sheet of paper, by artist Paper Dandy a.k.a. Marc Hagan-Guirey. They just boggle my mind.

Marc cuts the shapes, then bends and folds the paper using an ancient art called kirigami. It’s like origami but with cutting designs. Have you ever seen such detailed paper art in your entire life? Marc is not only talented, but also very prolific as you can see from the images below. These are just some of his creations.

Marilyn Monroe As Darth Vader

marilyn monroe darth vader art

Here’s something you don’t see everyday. Marilyn Monroe in Darth Vader’s armor. Spanish artist Marta de Andrés wanted to make a statement about the strength of women and equality between men and women. This is one striking way to get her point across. I love the juxtaposition of evil Darth Vader and desirable Marilyn.

A few possible titles for this piece of art:

The Seven Year Sith
Some Like It Darth

Also, I can’t stop seeing Darth Marilyn singing “Happy Birthday Mister Palpatine” in my head.

If Star Wars’ BB-8 Droid Were Designed By Apple

If Star Wars’ BB-8 Droid Were Designed By Apple

What if BB-8, that cute new spherical droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was made by Apple? That’s what designer/concept artist Martin Hajek asked himself. Thiese images are the answer. This BB-8 was made with extreme attention to detail. The droid would come in silver, gold, and space gray.

It would also feature that iconic glowing Apple logo on the side. Of course it would also cost way more than the competition and you would have to upgrade it every year, but no droid is perfect.
