I’m pretty blown away by what some people manage to create with cardboard, so when I saw Shreyas Malvankar’s Custom Cardboard Superheroes I was beyond impressed. How he gets so much detail using cardboard, I have no idea. That Gladiator Hulk has several accessories for instance. I hope he creates even more. This collection of Star Wars plant pots and decorative statues will have you out in the garden all year long tending to your plants. Artist Andi Ewington has created some very stunning Alternate Star Trek Discovery Posters that beat the hell out of the stuff CBS All Access was releasing when the show arrived. These posters are bold while keeping things slightly retro. They really get you excited for the show if you haven’t seen it yet. I would want to watch it right now based on these posters.
A lot of geeky stuff is floating around in my brain, but I never thought about setting Star Wars movie scenes to the song “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath. It’s actually pretty perfect. Voordeel created this amazing video that combines epic scenes from the Star Wars films with Black Sabbath’s War Pigs. Two classics collide.
Check out this concept art for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Most of these images involve the death of Han Solo in The Force Awakens and Benicio del Toro’s character, DJ from The Last Jedi. It’s interesting to see the changes that the death of Han went through, but it seems that he was always going to fall. DJ could have looked a lot different than he did in the movie. It’s always fascinating to see where the art was leading compared to where things ended up. I think I like Kylo’s mask in gold better than silver.

So we need to talk about that Mary Poppins scene in Star Wars The Last Jedi. Many fans felt that it was horribly out of place and even downright comical. No matter how you feel about this scene, you’ll get a laugh at this Leia Shooting Stars meme video. Why just fly to the ship when you can fly everywhere? If only Leia had developed these powers earlier we could have had some really crazy movies.
Different superheroes have very different toilet needs, which had honestly never crossed my mind, until I saw this amazing and fun art from Kerry Callen. Urinals of the Justice League. Now that I’ve seen it, this all makes perfect sense. I’d hate to see Doomsday’s urinal.
The fight between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader at the end of the original Star Wars movie is already a classic, but now it has more action thanks to some talented filmmakers. In this short, they have upped the action and it really works. Right now it is just a short clip, but the whole scene will be released next year. I personally love the original, but it is fun to see it get more intense. I’m really curious to see how this whole fight will play out in their re-imagined version.
Remember the old Spy VS Spy comics? Imagine them with Star Wars characters. This fun illustration from artist Kaio Augusto is just perfect. It depicts Han and Boba Fett Spy VS Spy style, about to duel. How much do you want to bet Boba turns and fires prematurely, trying to cheat? I love everything about this art. I hope Kaio does more in this style.
Louis Vuitton collectors will be sad to know that their favorite expensive bags had to be cut up so that artist Gabriel Dishaw could create some geeky art masterpieces, but sometimes a sacrifice is needed to make great art. Gabriel deconstructed and cut up several Louis Vuitton bags, so that he could turn them into amazing Star Wars sculptures like Darth Vader’s helmet, an AT-AT, C-3PO and more. The familiar LV patterns actually seem to work great in any Star Wars theme.
