Famous Oldies: Old Superheroes By Alex Solis

Famous Oldies Old Superheroes By Alex Solis
All of our superheroes are either young or in their prime, but we rarely ever see old superheroes. They are perpetually young and strong. Well, not in this amazing art series from Chicago-based artist and illustrator Alex Solis. Here we see familiar heroes as senior citizens. Still super, just… Super old.

The series is titled Famous Oldies and that is just what they are, shown here wrinkles and all, still doing their thing. I’m just glad to see that they have not given up after all of these years.

Many adults seem to like to color these days just like they did when they were little padawans. H.R. Giger’s Japanese Ads For Pioneer

H.R. Giger's Japanese Ads For Pioneer
Some of you might remember this advertising campaign from 1985 when Japanese electronics company Pioneer hired H.R. Giger for an advertising campaign to promote the company’s new Zone system. They even made a television commercial that features one of Giger’s creatures. There were also two print advertisements.

I don’t know about you, but advertisements that feature Giger’s work certainly get my attention. This will either make you buy a Pioneer product or make you feel terrified. Maybe both.

Hand Painted Death Star Globe

Hand Painted Death Star Globe
Lots of people have a globe in their office, even if they don’t travel around the globe. It’s a classic office accessory. Well, this Hand Painted Death Star Globe is much cooler. Sure, it’s fun to spin the globe around and point to a far away place, but you know what’s even more fun? Zipping your toy X-Wings around this thing and making sound effects as Luke blows it sky high.

Yeah, you can keep your fancy globes. This Death Star globe is a classic geek decoration.

Captain America Pocket Watch

Captain America Pocket Watch
Pocket Watches may not be as popular as they once were, but that’s okay, since Captain America is from another era. He wouldn’t look out of place wearing this beautiful Captain America Pocket Watch. His version would probably be made of the same material as his shield though. This would be perfect for a cosplay accessory or just to carry with you so you can show your devotion to Steve Rogers. Wow. Cap’s red, white and blue really looks great on a watch.

Fun Fan Art: Baby Terminator

Fun Fan Art Baby Terminator
Have you ever wondered what Terminators would look like as babies? I think we’ve all wondered that from time to time. Well, here ya go. This fun fan art comes from French artist Ronald Bousseau. I think it’s pretty adorable. I also imagine that another terminator is going back through time to stop him from becoming an adult.

It’s a fun piece of art and now it has me wondering what Ronald would do with other sci-fi characters as babies. I hope he explores the idea.

These images combined with that antiqued frame make these pendants a real winner. You can choose from characters like Robocop, Predator, Catwoman, Boba Fett, Princess Leia and many more.

If I were a woman, I don’t think I could choose just one. They are all awesome. I would have to have a whole collection.

Mars Wars – Star Wars / Mars Attacks Mashup Art

Mars Wars - Star Wars Mars Attacks Mashup Art
You have probably seen your share of Star Wars mashups that make use of The Force Awakens poster, but I bet you haven’t seen this awesome mashup before. I love those Mars Attacks aliens, so this really cracked me up. You can practically hear them making their weird Martian noises as you take it all in. My other thought is this…. Rey has looked better. This fun art was created by Taiwan based artist Yu Shen Yang.

Alien Xenomorph Easter Bunny

Scary as it looks, this Alien Xenomorph Easter Bunny also looks delicious. Imagine having this on display during Easter. This yummy yet terrifying treat is the latest piece of edible art created by artist and baker Christine McConnell. The woman is a master food crafter. How does she do it? I have no idea, but I can tell you that the Xenomorh’s head is a Twinkie!

Christine makes all kinds of awesome geeky treats and you can check them all out in her new book titled Deceptive Desserts: A Lady’s Guide to Baking Bad! I just want to eat this so bad!

Pop Eggs: Pop Culture Art To Get Egg-Cited About

Pop Eggs Pop Culture Art To Get Egg-Cited About
This art series from Kate Dawe is appropriately titled “Pop Eggs”. It takes pop culture characters and throws an egg into the mix. It’s a little odd, but that’s what we like about it. It’s also playful and fun.

The word puns are in full effect in the titles too, like E.T. The Eggstraterrestrial, Jurassegg Park, The Termeggnator and more. If you want to make a pop culture omelette, you have to break a few eggs right? Or at least incorporate eggs into your art. You can check out more in the link above. It’s egg-citing stuff.
