These fan art pieces explore “What if…”. They depict alternate scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy that never happened. They were submissions for the ILM ART Department Challenge, hosted by Industrial Light & Magic and ArtStation. Each one tells a tale that was never seen on the big screen, but suggests a new storyline. It is fun to see what might have been. These pieces are good enough to be honest to God concept art for these non-existent scenes.
This is a really striking print that features the determined faces of Earth’s mightiest heroes. It is going to look so good in your own superhero headquarters. It is the work of JoStroudArtist who, aside from this Avengers Faces Print, has a bunch of great artwork in their store. I really love how strong this print is, highlighting each Avenger.
I’m really loving these Wooden Superhero Themed Watches from SkinAndGrain. They are some very classy and geeky timepieces. You get a stylish wood watch from the front side, with a secret superhero identity on the other, featuring the character’s logo and mask. They have many different characters available. These are really fun and unique. The seller is based in Singapore, but they have very reasonable shipping. They also have Star Wars and other geek themes. I don’t wear a watch, but I wouldn’t mind wearing these.
This humorous piece of fan art comes from Dave Franciosa. It shows older versions of DC characters interacting with their current versions. The Joker can’t believe what has become of himself.
This very cool Star Wars Death Star Starry Night Print is titled “Van Gogh Never Saw The Empire”. Maybe not, but if he had, this is what he would have painted. Van Gogh’s classic gets a very Imperial makeover in this piece from SagittariusGallery.
Hold onto your Captain’s chairs Star Trek fans. This is a special treat. This is a conceptual refit of the NX-01 starship in Star Trek Enterprise. It was designed by Doug Drexler and had the show gone on to a fifth season, this ship may have become a reality. The idea is that this ship is a bridge between the original NX-01 and the classic TOS Constitution class. And boy did Doug knock it out of the park! You can explore this ship from every possible angle below.
You know, I often complain that in its later years, Trek got lazy with many of its ship designs. Not all. There were still some neat ships, but at a certain point they started to feel really uninspired. The NX-01 is not bad for what it is. Now that I’ve seen this amazing starship, I really wish they had started that series with this ship. It is a real stunner. You can tell it was designed by a Trek veteran. It has all of the right visual cues that push my buttons as a long time fan. I’m gonna stop gushing now, but I fully admit that I am in love with this ship. Check it out. I’m gonna admire it some more myself.
Thomas Marrone did an amazing job creating this 3D model.
Robert Xavier Burden is an amazing painter who combines toy collecting and art. The paintings he creates are massive and highly detailed Renaissance-style oil paintings. They will blow you away. The toys featured in his work are treated with reverence as if they are holy things. And they are. Nostalgia is spirituality in these works. A temple. They could easily decorate any holy place. Check out some of his work below and hit up his website for more.
Give the geek love in your life a fun card this Valentine’s Day. Maybe you are a predator and she is an alien. Maybe it’s the other way around. Either way, these Alien and Predator Valentine’s Day Cards from nicolesloan represent you perfectly. Your species may be at war, but you love each other. This year tell them that they make your chest burst. Give them one of these cards and if they love it and really get it, you know they are a keeper.
StephLewArt calls this series “cuties” for obvious reasons. They are pint sized prints that are triple A: Adorable, amazing, affordable. Also very collectible, because you will want many to hang in your home or office. These prints cover everything from Batman, to Game of Thrones and everything in between. Many of your favorite geek franchises are represented here.
These Superhero Wall Emblems from ComicSandwiches are perfect for any mancave, game room, geek lair or secret superhero headquarters. The shop is full of great geek wall art, but we really like these emblems because they feel kind of old school and official. They are perfect for kid’s rooms and the rooms of adult geeks alike. You can choose from Batman, Spider-Man, The Avengers, Suicide Squad and many more. Decorate with a bunch of them and your room will look like a superhero UN.
