Famous Actors As Marvel Superheroes

These superhero illustrations show us what it would be like if OTHER famous actors were cast as various superheroes. This is the work of French artist Alex Tuis and he proves that he would make a great casting agent. I think we can all agree that Arnold as Collusus when he was younger would have been perfect.

Christopher Walken as Professor X? I think that would be awesome. A younger Rutger Hauer as Thor is also a brilliant choice. I’m not so sure about a few of the others, but they all look fantastic. It is a fun series of “What if…” possibilities.

Beautiful And Retro Silent Running Art Print

Etsy seller handdrawncreative has a super nice and retro hand drawn Silent Running print. It is a limited edition of only 20 prints and he tells me he only has one left.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Douglas Trumbull’s 1972 film featuring Bruce Dern. I know I would love to display this in my man cave. Each print is signed and numbered. For those of you who have never seen the movie. Shame on you. Go do that now.

Doctor Who Inspired Money: Don’t Spend It All In Time And Space

Artist Randi Sparkman created these clever Doctor Who inspired bank notes, which I’m assuming are only printed on Gallifrey. Which is a shame really, because along with the destruction of the home planet of the Time Lords, the currency tanked. Then it was all revived again when all 13 Doctor’s saved the planet, so it’s all good.

This currency features Daleks, the TARDIS, the 9th Doctor and the 10th. As currency goes, this is some of the coolest I have ever seen. I’d love to have a pocket full. It beats plain old galactic credits anyday.

Planet Of The Apes Art By Alex Ross

The latest Planet of the Apes movie has me wanting to watch the old Planet of the Apes movies all over again, but before I do that, I thought I would share this poster art from comic artist Alex Ross. He has created four pieces of poster art inspired by the original Planet of the Apes. These are based on covers of the Boom Studios Comic book Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm. They were available for purchase at San Diego Comic-Con, but you can still buy them here. If any are left.

Each 17 x 22 inch giclee is a limited edition of 168. They will cost $145 each and $195 for #4. Sure, they are a tad expensive, but this is Alex Ross. And apes! Damn dirty apes!

Minimalist GAME OF THRONES Character Art

Whenever a season of Game Of Thrones ends, we are left with a void. And it can only be filled with the start of the next season. Well, to help fill that void while we wait, we can at least have a look at some fan art, while we dream of Westeros.

This set of Game of Thrones character art is the work of Jerry Liu, who happens to be a 2D animator, art director, and designer. Oh, and of course, he is also a Game Of Thrones fan. Obviously. These are minimalist interpretations of our favorite characters. I especially like Jon Snow and Ghost.

Roger Dean’s Strange Alien Landscapes

If you recognize Roger Dean’s amazing Sci-Fi landscapes, it is probably because you first saw them as album covers, for bands like Asia and Yes. I knew that would jog your memory. These exotic and vibrant illustrations are stories just waiting to be told. You see these landscapes and your imagination immediately takes over, populating them with aliens and making them live.

You might also think that Dean’s work looks a lot like the alien world from James Cameron’s Avatar. Well, Dean thought so too and in June of 2013 he filed a lawsuit in New York against James Cameron. He is seeking damages in excess of fifty million dollars. Whatever really happened there, Dean created his worlds first and he didn’t need 3D and millions of dollars to do it.

Star Warped Art Prints Depict A Twisted Galaxy Far, Far Away

If you are looking for some Star Wars art with serious attitude and lots of humor, get thee to the PickledCircus Etsy store right this second. Matthew Roby’s Star Warped series is all kinds of awesome.

Whether it is Leia as the lollipop sucking Alderaan Avenger, or Boba Fett with a “Strawberry Solo” frozen popsicle, or any of his other humorous pieces, these art prints will make you smile and laugh. How about Jabba the Hutt as the “Blobfather” or Admiral Ackbar falling for the somewhat obvious trap of a mini Death Star with dynamite attached? I love these and I hope he keeps making more.

Adventure Time And Space: Doctor Who And Adventure Time Collide

It is amazing how well some things just go together. Like Doctor Who and Adventure Time. Who would have thought? Cartoonist Alex Dempsey knew all along and now he shows us with these charming illustrations. This series is aptly titled Adventure Time and Space and shows us a world where the ninth through twelfth Doctors and their companions merge with Adventure Time. These two shows work perfectly together.

If we could watch this show, it might even be more fun than each of them are on their own. You have to love the fact that he even threw in the ninth Doctor’s banana. That’s just perfect. Also, the War Doctor. Yay!

Beautiful Star Trek Pop-Ups Book

Prepare for your wallet to be assimilated. Resistance to this awesome Star Trek Pop-Up Book is futile. You must have it. I know that I have to have it anyway. Star Trek Pop-Ups features seven pop-up Star Trek scenes, which span the entire Trek timeline.

It features pop-ups of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, the tribble scene from The Trouble with Tribbles, a Klingon Bird of Prey, a Borg Cube, Deep Space 9, Captain Proton’s Bride of Chaotica, and the Enterprise NX-01. They were designed by Courtney Watson McCarthy. This is a fun book for Trek fans. I don’t think we have had even one Star Trek pop-up book until now.

Light-Up Sci-Fi Danger Awareness Art

These light-up Sci-Fi danger awareness artworks are clever and inventive and will make your home feel a little bit more futuristic. As if you are on board an actual spaceship, viewing safety warnings on the bulkhead. Etsy seller TheDailyRobot offers several. There’s a bionic arm warning, safety precautions regarding the Star Trek transporter and even one for an Orbital Elevator. The seller very appropriately has this to say about the transporter piece:

You can’t drive a car without getting a license. You can’t fly a plane without getting a license. But any jerk can walk into a tube and get de-atomized, which is why we need signs like these to keep the teleporting masses safe.

You can get these awesome pieces of art from his shop for about $75.
