However, the price certainly puts a damper on my enthusiasm. Disney Consumer Products and Kay Jewelers have teamed up to create a stunning new interpretation of the new droid in gold and diamonds.
It took 600 hours to create and it has been valued at $135,000. This luxury version of the droid is just 4.25″ high and weighs just over 1.5 lbs. Made from 18-carat yellow gold, this piece has around 860 diamonds which amounts to 18 carats. This little and expensive droid will be displayed at the Force 4 Fashion exhibit in New York and auctioned off for charity later this month. Even R2-D2 wasn’t this valuable when he had the Death Star plans.
